Strike Group Thuia-Delta

Solar Research Fortress XB491042 // CODENAME: BENBEN

Thuia-adjacent Star System [different], New World Union territory

-------------------------

Strike Group Thuia-Delta, an elite naval strike group equipped with the latest in New World Union military upgrade packages and with well-trained controllers, was sent to deliver a killing blow to the CROS commanders behind the ongoing siege of SRF Benben, the strike hoping to at least stagger the attack and allow for the fortress to survive until a composite strike group would be available to counterattack and lift the siege.

A large space station hovered in a massive asteroid belt surrounded by camouflaged battleships and cruisers, with relatively little dedicated aircraft capability. The Strike Group appeared several light minutes away, their detection systems immediately picking up on the thaumaturgic signals emitted by CROS technology. A cruiser pinged nearly exactly on the space station's outer hull, and the fleet swept in.

Missiles immediately started flying and guns started firing at the space station, and, while many were stopped by point defense CIWS batteries and shielding, many more annihilated entire fleets' worth of CROS vessels. Newly manufactured thaumaturgic ballistic missiles had far less trouble with enemy countermeasures, passing through shields as if they were nothing and precisely detonating in the midst of formations.

Photonlaser gun batteries slammed unfortunate vessels in lines, and, despite their small size compared to those aforementioned vessels' gun batteries, still packed enough firepower to shred through them. The batteries indeed did rip through them, taking out hundreds in a line. As was evident from the stupid amount of vessels being destroyed and being blown up, the CROS defenses were in chaos.

"INTCOM, requesting weapons hot?" The Strike Group's command asked, and their response was "Yeah. Light 'em up." A carrier started launching TMPNMs (Thaumaturgic Multipurpose Naval Missiles) which started striking the space station and its core defenses. One missile struck the decently large space station and the force of its dense high-tier G-Cell payload ripped it in half.

The station's onboard thaumaturgic power supplies and the ammunition in its armory ripped the station from two pieces into thousands, with asteroids being hit and destroyed and in turn also being turned to pieces, this chain reaction resulting in the destruction of a few more already-damaged CROS vessels, but nothing too devastating due to CROS shielding and armor on the still spaceworthy ships functioning.

More TMPNMs flew, their engines giving off little indication that they were even there and their explosions flashing brightly. The first wave of missiles blasted the unfortunate CROS in the way and reduced the vast majority of them to fine particles before they could fire back, and when they fired back, the strike group took losses even though they were minor.

Another wave of CROS vessels appeared, being 3 times larger than the original defensive contingent protecting the now-destroyed space station. The strike group picked up these contacts on their defensive systems and immediately attempted to pull out of the attack, pings indicating that their intent was to reform at longer range and from there, blast the enemy with TMPNMs.

Half of the strike group did not immediately retreat, holding off the enemy assault for a minute with missile and gun barrages, and battleships used their spinal guns to tear gaping holes in the CROS line, annihilating anything that happened to be in the path of their munitions. The guided nature of the munitions did not help the CROS, as it allowed the ship controllers to guide the projectile to hit more targets than were possible with a straight line.
