Part 11: War Begins

It collapsed onto the rest of the base, its thaumaturgic properties being unable to hold up its weight after the repeated striking of New World Union artillery. Pieces of structure were thrown as high as 50 miles from the explosions and acted as their own shrapnel. Defensive trenches meant to halt ground attacks were collapsed under explosions with diameters greater than their own lengths.

The L/RVX arrived and dropped its ramp, the Enigma Corps task force and alien prisoner entering. The fortress collapsed as they left, its massive walls caving in on themselves and tall structures collapsing from the sheer level of fire. To those unaware of the source of the fire and likely those inside the base and being killed, it seemed like a biblical event with the amount of warheads being put on foreheads.

The fort spanning nearly the whole continent, with possibly hundreds of billions of personnel, had five of them survive. One of the five who survived, who, rather comedically, was taking a dump at the time, swore he could hear an old Prussian marching song play while the fortress collapsed and was leveled by SRF Charlie's artillery, though records cannot confirm the source of the sound. Explosions also occurred in the ocean near the fort, causing massive waves to flood parts of it.

The bombardment continued for a few minutes, and the whole fort had been reduced into a moonscape pockmarked by craters and devoid of life. The sea had also grown less bioluminescent due to the sheer amount of explosions having killed many bioluminescent lifeforms and leaving their rotting and mangled carcasses to float on the waves or wash up onto the similarly dead shores. "That's their request fulfilled." Tempus said as the L/RVX returned.

The Emperor

Throne Room

Omega Citadel, Astera, New World Union

Having finally finished sleeping, the emperor casually sits in his throne room/office, reading through more messages. To his surprise, he found another message. It was from a 'UIGR', or United Intergalactic Realm, or, in its more accurate translation, 'United Intergalactic Reich'. It contained essentially the same message along with the fact that they were situated in the same universe as Thuia, and the emperor assigned envoys to them.

The veteran diplomat Robert Stone was assigned to the UIGR, and the emperor himself decided to personally handle negotiations with the OFR. Stone, with his stuff in tow, took a portal to their capital. Exiting a portal hub building, he was met with a rather nice outside. From a very old looking structure located nearby, he realized that their capital, even though it was filled with massive buildings, was, in fact, Berlin, and that he was on Earth, and a scan revealed it was the same universe as Thuia.

Stone met with a diplomatic convoy and entered one of the lead vehicles, which seemed to be a sleek and fast VTOL aerial vehicle. He found seats inside and sat on one, surrounded by quiet guards from both the NWU and UIGR. "Am I allowed to drink some b-" Stone was interrupted when a cybernetic arm stretched out of the wall, handing him a translucent crystal mug of beer, complete with some foam and bubbles.

"Well ok." He said, rather dumbfounded, sipping some of the beer. Not forgetting to ensure it was safe, he had scanners scan it, which had also indicated it had no harmful substances, chemicals, or poisons inside, other than its alcohol content, which was rather high. He drank some beer as the VTOL and the convoy took off, and he seemed to enjoy the view, taking occasional sips as he did.

The VTOL took off, and the diplomat was better able to get a good look at the surrounding architecture. It seemed to be a surprisingly coherent mass of gray brutalist structures, some shaped like pyramids, and others like skyscrapers, all with the same bland color, though buildings often had blue lights coming from what seemed to be windows, as well as odd vegetation.
