Disorientation whirled over my head — my throbbing head that was no longer submerged underwater.

My vision was still darkened and blurry when I attempted to open my eyes, soon realizing I hadn't drowned like I presumed I would.

My body was lying motionless in the damp sand, right by the shoreline, as if I had washed up on shore like a beached creature amidst my oblivion.

I began coughing up the cold, stinging salt water out of my lungs upon gaining slight consciousness, still lying on my left side, unable to get myself up right away due to the burning pounding I felt near the top of my forehead on the opposite side I was lying on.

The discomforting pain that caused my head to continue spinning in dizziness prompted me to remember what happened before I ended up washed ashore.

As my eyesight slowly grew clearer, I noticed something in the wet sand next to my head — small drops of red streaming through the sand below my chin.

That's the same moment I realized there was a light stream of warm liquid dripping down across my forehead. I hesitantly lifted my trembling hand and pressed my index finger against my head, where I felt the gentle flow, hissing in pain as I pulled it away and saw crimson dripping down my finger.

Seeing this made my head hurt even more, realizing just how hard I hit my head against the surfboard when the wave crashed over me, and how much damage it brought to my skin from the blow.

My vision was still slightly fuzzy as my eyes looked around the surrounding area of the beach I was lying on.

The sky above was still smokey gray, and the cold water felt stiller as small, calmer waves swept over my unmoving legs before drifting back into the ocean.

However, as I assessed my surroundings from the ground, my eyes widened with angst as I looked ahead from where my head lay to the side.

Further down the shoreline, stood Victoria out of the water this time.

She was still soaked from the ocean as water dripped into the sand from her wet clothes and long, drenched red hair that was still vibrant like a flame through the blurriness of my eyes.

She was staring right at me with wicked red eyes and a cold glare across her flawless pale features — intently watching the blood drip down my head.

My heart began racing once again, and I frantically tried to sit up head first but quickly fell back into the sand from the agonizing pain that swelled in my head when attempting to get up.

The only thing my aching, terror-stricken body could manage to do was crawl, but I knew that would do me no good in comparison to a vigorous, bloodthirsty vampire that was ready to kill me any second.
