Part 10: Operation Payday and Universal War One

Start from the beginning

The flashes occur at varying distances, all with massive CROS ships exiting. It seemed that they were hoping to brutally overrun New World Union forces, which they had detected via the small amounts of unfiltered thaumaturgy exiting the base, which were not capable of being hidden fully by jammers yet. Weapon radar systems also now track billions of CROS ships moving in, who begin to form up.

The massive New World Union force already at the base finds themselves having trouble engaging at long ranges due to CROS close proximity, and they resort to simply spam firing their weapons at the CROS units incoming. From digital IDs decoded by New World Union algorithms, it shows that there are several thousand CROS groups of ships on their way via what seemed to be a form of thaumaturgical warp drive. The Starinian ships also start firing on the megastructure, beginning the battle in earnest.

Immediately, New World Union guns and missile systems begin blasting the unfortunate CROS units, with photonlasers and railgun projectiles flying everywhere yet barely not hitting targets. The New World Union here has the advantage of essentially all of their munitions being guided, and the rather usual railgun emplacements such as the 289 as well as experimental Thaumaturginite variants of the systems who also begin shooting CROS vessels with enchanted guidance systems and munitions.

The Thaumaturginite-enhanced systems are also rather easily identified by the munitions they shoot being blanketed and covered with colorful starry trails which resemble the background of space itself; though being far more vibrant than the background. These thousands upon thousands upon thousands of guns light up the CROS fleet, immediately resulting in dangerous losses for the enemy. Enchantments have also essentially turned New World Union gun emplacements now into massive shotguns, slamming CROS vessels with barrages of photonlaser, railgun, and other types of fire.

Experimental massive 27500mm guns built with both Beam and Thaumaturginite technology fire at the CROS formations like massive RACS-12 systems, blanketing ships with fire. The New World Union's own vessels don't seem to be planning on being left behind however, as they fly all around and perform tight maneuvers, taking out maneuvering CROS vessels as they receive fire themselves, sometimes being destroyed by the sheer level of fire coming from CROS vessels.

The New World Union and Common Republic of Starin in this battle seem to have committed massive amounts of forces, facing each other with billions of ships each, though the CROS seemed to have the numbers advantage. Eventually, the New World Union's forces protecting the megastructure, after a few minutes of intense battle and heavy losses on both sides, opt to utilize nuclear munitions from all of their vehicles positioned on site.

Massive launch cells pockmarking the surface and zones of the high-end multi-light hour sized structure quickly open, as smokeless geometric-ish shaped missiles begin launching and rocketing towards CROS positions. The TF-X members also opt to, while using 27500mm gun emplacements, mark targets for the G-Cell based nukes to strike. When the missiles do strike, it would seem that hundreds or even low-end thousands of CROS ships were vaporized in the blast, unable to be repaired.

CROS ships violently maneuver around, firing at gun emplacements as they pass, accompanied frequently by CROS fighter aircraft, which seem to resemble a sort of alien variable-sweep wing quad-engine fighter. Many are shot down by gun emplacements like how some New World Union aircraft are being taken down by CROS vessels, and eventually, the battle devolves into a very intense constant battle for the fortress.

The New World Union and the Common Republic Of Starin both had not seen this kind of tough fighting for thousands of years, but the New World Union's highly adaptable military here is better posed to triumph over the enemy in this battle, also due to their gear and hardware's highly modular nature and ability to be changed very easily. Massive gun emplacements codenamed with the same name of a certain British monument even larger than the 27500mm which seemed to have their FCS systems jammed by unknown non-CROS or eldritch forces initially now rev to life.
