Narcissa's words echoed through his head as he made his way up the stairs to his flat
Marlene sat curled up on the sofa with a book in her hand, lost in thought
"Hey" he said softly as he walked into the room and taking his shoes off
"Hi" she said not bothering to lookup from her book
"Your not gonna ask me where I was?"
"Nope....none of my business" she said flipping the page
"Hm too bad" he said grabbing her ankles and pulling her toward him
"No really not interested" she said as he brushed his lips against hers
"I love you" he said softly before kissing her
"You do?" She asked making him kiss her harder before pushing her back against the sofa
"Sirius"
"Hmm I love it when you say my name like that" he whispered leaving kisses along her jaw Marlene ran her fingers through his hair as he kissed down her torso
"No! Stop!" She mumbled as she pushed him off
"You've been gone for hours and you turn up and expect me to sleep with you? No Sirius that's not how it works"
"Marlene please let me explain-
"No! Dinner's on the table......I'm going to bed" she said as she picked up her book at went into their bedroom
Marlene had turned the lights off but she lay on her side staring at the wall in front of her, she could hear Sirius shuffling around the kitchen but she didn't bother until the lights were turned back on
Sirius silently went through his night routine and then slid into bed beside her, she wasn't asleep he knew it
"Marlene I went to see Narcissa, she wanted to talk.....it's been hard since Reg and everything tha-
"It's been 2 years and you haven't said a word to me" She said softly
"I don't want to be a burden"
Marlene scoffed and sat up
"Sirius I have known you nearly all my life! You have done things that are far more burdening than talking" she said as she got to her feet
"Marls please" He grabbed her hand and pulled her back towards him
"Let me go Sirius! We should be able to talk about things! You should be able to tell me things-
"That's only me huh?! What about your secrets?!" Sirius yelled letting go of her hand before pushing to his feet
"Secrets! What secret to I have!! I have no-
"MY CHILD!!"
Sirius watched as she momentarily froze before she looked at him

''Narcissa told me"
"Narcissa how does she know?"
"She saw you buying the portion"
Marlene simply nodded as she sat down on the bed
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked running his hands through his hair
"I-i was scared"
"Why? Why are you afraid? Me!! Are you afraid of me Marlene?! Tell me"
"We are in the middle of a war!! And-
"And what Marlene!! WHAT!?!"
"Our child will be a half blood just like me!! There is no guarantee that we are going to win this war! What then what of our child!!"
"Marls! We are going to win this war! We are! Baby I need you to believe me when I say that" he said softly kneeling down in front of her taking her hands in his

"This is forever Marls! You and me......nothing can change that amd I promise after this war.....after we win! We will be a family! A real one.....you, me and the pup" he said softly as he placed his hand on her stomach
"A pup" she said softly, placing her hand on his making him chuckle before he kissed her slowly pushing her back so she was lying down
"You are a mutt" she mumbled in between kisses making him nip against her neck

Sirius wrapped his arms around her placing a kiss on her head
"Listen there's something we need to tall about"
"We just did, Sirius"
"Please this is important" he said leaning on his arm so he can look at her
"What is it?"
"Listen, Narcissa's leaving for Italy, she's going there to leave Draco so he's away from the war....she's offered to take you too and i think you should go"
"What!? Sirius I'm not leaving in the middle of a war! I-
"I know! I know! Think about it please.....that's all I'm asking" he said softly making her nod
"I will.....but no promises" she said making him smile
