Part 9: Into Lecelnan Land the NWU Army March

"Good shit, Challengers. Thanks." "Welcome, Perseus." They respond to him. Meanwhile, Captain Tommy issues an order of his own. "Push up, push up, go, go go! Perseus, maintain suppressing XM56 fire. Rest of you, push with me." "Roger that, Captain." Perseus pulled out his XM56 VLS system, and started firing micromissiles into the air. The missiles found their marks in the last remaining defenders, and Perseus then searched around for targets, finding none.

The flag of the New World Union was raised on the plaza's central flag pole, marking the loss of the city's primary plaza. Without sparing time to celebrate, the New World Union's forces -- including TFX -- continue further, clearing out buildings and shooting through walls, taking out Lecelnan defenders as they did so. The cycle repeated itself, M5, M4 PHIP, TSCAR, and HIMCWs blasting through the city. AGCFVs also bombarded enemy positions with their twin o/u autocannons.

Some Lecelnans in the aforementioned defensive positions who were being killed en masse opted to surrender, and one unit surrendered to the main TF-X unit. Captain Tommy exited their AGCFV and approached the surrendering Lecelnans. He transmitted to base. "Base, we got 20 surrendering Lecelnans over here. ConfAcc (confirm accept)?" "You are clear to accept their surrender, Task Force Xeno. Out."

The other Task Force members exited the back of the AGCFV, and opened up a portal linking them to a PoW processing facility. Many Lecelnans hung their heads in shame as they walked through, though some were also scared to see what would happen when they entered the prison facility. They were met by their previously-dead brothers and sisters in arms as they arrived, much to their joy.

The TF-X members pressed on, reentering their AGCFV and eventually exiting the city. They found no resistance awaiting them, and the 21st and 123rd also found no resistance. Vast amounts of automated farmland with growing green crops stretched into the distance, and Lecelnan drones, wholly unaware of the massive fighting that had just occurred behind them, continuing with their routines.

The New World Union vehicles sort of paused awkwardly, then silently forming a convoy and leaving the city behind, with a decently large force occupying it. The convoy pressed on through swampy Lecelnan terrain, occassionally encountering the odd swamp creature, including a strange tube-like organism that floated on the water, waiting for prey to enter its mouth, apparently.

The convoy pressed on, eventually arriving at the outskirts of the city of Balagy, a Lecelnan city surrounded by jungle, and the Lecelnan's primary slash-and-burn location. F/A-95s flying overhead spotted Lecelnan defensive positions, and without hesitation, a plan was executed by the 123rd Infantry. A modified river also pulled up to the city, and SSTB destroyers also began pulling up to the city, followed by cruisers, then by battleships.

The 123rd Infantry, with silencers equipped, charged and jumped the Lecelnan defensive positions, killing any Lecelnan spotted. They also secured vast amounts of intel, and when the Lecelnans were able to react, they tried shooting at the 123rd, then being killed by silent invisible photonlasers. Some were also killed by M498 Converted LMGs, having entirely wrecked bodies from the power of the rounds and their explosive properties.

The 21st Armored made a push towards the city, and broke through the primary Lecelnan defense at the city square, then expanding out and through, with AGCFVs and MMPFPs firing their guns through buildings and killing unfortunate Lecelnans. Micromissiles also launched, targeting Lecelnan command stations and equipment with devastating accuracy. Many Lecelnans were also killed by the micromissiles.

The 21st Armored quickly secured the city, while the 123rd took their sweet time clearing out the Lecelnans in the city's surrounding forest. Many specialized traps had been deployed, though they were completely ineffective, often being sharpened wooden and metal spikes, against the New World Union's armor and shielding systems, which benefitted from thousands of years of material science and dedicated upgrades.
