"Kenma!" Y/N whined. "We've been playing too long. My hands are cramping! Can we please do something else?" It was true, Y/N's hands were stiff and she could barely move her fingers. The duo had been at it for nearly four hours with no breaks.

This wasn't uncommon for them. They both love video games, though Y/N couldn't compete with Kenna's passion for them. The pair of them usually spend weekends together. It's been this way for years. Back in high school, Y/N used to feel bad for Kuroo, who usually did his own thing while Kenma and Y/N played, but she was used to it by now. Kuroo occasionally joined them, but he never played as long as them. Now he was sprawled out on the couch reading the rough draft of Y/N's new light novel.

"I agree. Besides it was supposed to be my turn to pick what we do." Kuroo marked his place and carefully tossed the rough draft to the side.

Kenma sighed, reluctantly turning off the game. He shifted his attention to Y/N. Kenma watched as Y/N struggled to straighten her fingers. Without thinking he reached out and grabbed one of her hands, massaging it the way he often does for himself after long streams.

Kenma is observant. They all know this. So he didn't miss it when Y/N's face flushed at his touch. Neither did Kuroo. This wasn't a new development. It started maybe a year ago. They both thought it meant that Y/N had feelings for Kenma. But it became clear relatively quickly that Y/N was oblivious to this. That or she was in denial. Which ever it was had caused Kenna's feelings to change as well. Y/N was no longer just a friend. Not to him. Not for a while.

"What do you want to do Tetsuro?" Y/N glanced over at Kuroo. Kenna's attention never changed though, taking in Y/N's flushed appearance.

Kuroo paused for a minute, developing a plan. He was tired of waiting for Kenma and Y/N to get together already. Now, he thought, it was time for a push.

"How about you pick a movie, Y/N. Kenma and I will go get some snacks." Kenma was about to complain when Kuroo gave him a look. One that said he wanted to talk. So Kenma complied, dropping Y/N's hand and getting up.

The pair walked to Kenma's kitchen in silence. Once Kuroo was positive they were out of earshot, he spoke. "You need to tell her how you feel."

"That's what this is about?" Kenma sighed. He didn't want to have this conversation. "I already told you, I don't want things to change."

"Things have already changed Kenma. The changed the moment you developed feelings for her." Kenma knew that he was right and Kuroo could tell.

"It's been a year Kenma. What are you going to do if she starts seeing someone? You know she met someone recently that asked her out? Y/N hasn't answered. You need to tell her."

Kenma froze. Y/N had met someone? Y/N never talked about guys. So why had she told Kuroo, and more importantly, why hadn't she told Kenma?

"What if she rejects me? Our friendship could end just like that. And even if it doesn't, things will never be the same." Kenma appeared calm, but inside he was freaking out. He knew he was just making excuses. There was no way that Y/N would reject him.

"Kenma, that will never happen. I know you've seen the way she looks at you." Kuroo squeezed Kenma's shoulder. "You need to tell her." To that, Kenma finally agreed.

The pair returned with snacks as promised. Kenma had made sure to grab all of Y/N's favorites. She lit up at the selection and eagerly showed off the movie she had decided on. Having picked something she knew the boys would like.

They all settled down to watch the film. Kuroo on the couch and Kenma and Y/N on the floor, just as before. The movie played but only Y/N payed attention. Kenma couldn't help but worry about what Kuroo had said. Someone asked out Y/N.

As the credits rolled, Kuroo stood up with a stretch. "It's time for me to head out."

"Already? It's only 6." Y/N asked.

"It just so happens that I have a date." Kuroo snuggly answered. This wasn't true though, Kuroo had no plans. But he wanted to plant the idea of dating someone in Y/N's head. It also served as a reminder for Kenma.

"Oh! I hope it goes well." Y/N smiled. Kenma loved that smile. So pure and genuine.

"Have fun." Kenma could see right through Kuroo's lie but he said it anyway. He knew what Kuroo was doing. Giving them space so that he could confess.

Once Kuroo was gone, Kenma settled back down on the floor and looked up at Y/N. "Wanna play something?" Y/N smiled back at him and nodded.

The pair, now alone, resituated themselves and turned on a game. Nothing was going as Kuroo planned. Not yet at least.

They played for two hours, simply enjoying each others company. They had fallen into a comfortable silence not too long ago and that's how it stayed until Kenma's phone began to buzz.

"Kenma, I think your phone is going off." It was barely audible, but Y/N had finally noticed.

"Will you check it for me." Kenma had his hands full with the battle in front of them. Y/N opened her mouth to ask about the game but Kenma beat her to it. "Don't worry, I've got it handled. I won't let you die." Y/N trusted him and set down her controller.

Kenma's phone was on the floor, not too far away from them. When she looked at the phone there were two new notifications.

One missed call: Kuro

One new message

Kuro: Have you talked to Y/N yet?

Y/N froze for a second. Why does Kenma need to talk to her? Did something happen? Many different possibilities flooded Y/N's mind. All of them bad.

"Kenma," her voice was soft and quiet. "Why does Tetsuro want you to talk to me?"

Kenma paused the game in a panic. His eyes locked on the screen. He wouldn't dare look at her. "Kenma?"

Finally he looked at her. It was now or never. All thanks to Kuroo. Why did he have her check his phone?

"Y/N, I need to tell you something."

Y/N's heart stopped for a moment. She clenched her fists to fight the anxiety creeping up on her.

"What's wrong Kenma?"

"Nothings wrong." He clarified. Finally Kenma looked over at Y/N. A look of vulnerability covered his face. Something Y/N had never seen from him before. Kenma stood and walked to Y/N. He couldn't help but smile at how her breath caught the moment he grabbed her hands.

"Y/N," he took a quick breath to calm his nerves. It was finally time. "Did someone ask you on a date?"

She nodded.

"Say no."

Y/N's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "What?"

"Say no." Kenma repeated.

"Ken-"

"Say no."

"What?" None of this made sense. Not to Y/N at least.

"Be with me instead."
