chapter four : blooming friendships.
└────── ⋆⋅✦⋅⋆ ──────┘

if someone were to tell you that your survived an 'akuma attack' you'd laugh in their face.
after the giant-monster-titan-like being had been defeated, paris had turned to normal. your school's ceilings were put back into place, and everything was at seemed. almost as nothing happened.

although paris was seemingly back to normal, you did not feel the same way. when marinette found you sleeping in class, she told you about what that being was. akuma was what she called it. apparently, paris has a secret super villian that akumatizes people who feel negative emotions. however, there were two superhero's who help save and fight these beings to protect paris.

it was a lot to take in.

it sounded so surreal, like you were in some sort of figurative imaginary world. superheros and villians? this sure wasn't on the paris' abroad itinerary list.

remembering the name and flashback from last time, you asked marinette who chat noir was. she told you he was the partner of ladybug, the protectors of paris. there wasn't much you could do but muster a silent 'oh.'

it didnt make sense to you. chat noir was not a thing in your home country, and you've never heard of him outside of paris. so why did he seem so familiar? he'd only been a superhero for a couple years. you were sure you've never seen him on any media platform in that timespan.

the unnerving thought of uncertainty had you occupied of thoughts during the remainder of school day. the akuma attack had took a great portion of your first day, and what was left was a late lunch and last period.

nathaniel had asked you to sit with him during lunch. while he sat silently drawing on his sketch book, you sat palm in hand, stabbing your cafeteria food unconsciously. there was nothing on your mind but you processing the akuma attack, and the connections of the so-called chat noir.

nathaniel noticed this, as he stared at you for a good minute, but you didn't notice. "akuma got you feeling down?" he asked disrupting your thinking. "ah, it's a big.. BIG culture shock, just trying to process everything," you admitted letting out a big huff. "i get it. i was akumatized a couple times. it's hard to get used to, even now..." you slumped in your chair. "i won't lie, i wanna go home already."

you looked around and saw the rest of the students eating normally, chatting and smiling as if nothing happened. you should be doing the same, it's a regular occurrence apparently, but something was weighing you down.

that flashback you had gave you such a horrible feeling that you couldn't describe. in fact, just being in this school is giving you shivers.

it was probably nothing though. just the shock from your first akuma experience."dont dwell on it y/n, it's only your first day." nathaniel reminded you.

you tried your best to take nathaniel's words and not let it dawn on you too much. school went by a breeze, and just like that, first day of school was over. legs trembling as you walked down the stairs, you saw marinette and nino bidding goodbye to adrien who left in a black car. when the duo had spotted you, they waved to you calling you down to them.

"y/n! how was last period?" marinette asked smiling at you. "oh it went by so quickly. i'm so thankful for that because i can't wait to go in my bed and rest," nino laughed, "word to that." "but hey! it'll only get better from here right?" marinette did a weird dance to lighten your tired attitude. "how many times does paris get into these messes?" you trembled. "pfft, only like once a week... two times a week... every other day...?" the pig-tailed girl whispered. you subconsciously face-palmed yourself.

"this was definelty not the paris i imagined being in,"
"it makes it all the more interesting no?"

the three of you began to chat away at mundane conversations such as the stereotypical image you had coming to paris, and being a student in one of the most top collegiates. you also told them how happy you were that they decided to talk to you, and that you were able to sit at marinettes absent desk mates spot. you admitted shyly at the fact that if you were to sit at another desk, you were sure you wouldn't have been friends with them. after a good chunk of time went by, everyone had bided each other farewell and had walked home. you couldn't help but smile to yourself thinking about the new friends you had just made. marinette, nino, nathaniel, and maybe... adrien too. it almost made you forget about the eerie feelings that the late morning had produced.

when you arrived home, you couldn't help but feel a gust of loneliness overcome you. this was your first time living alone, your first time without your father, and after the tiring day you had, you wanted to do nothing but lay on you dad's shoulder and rant to him about the hectic day you experienced.

after remembering your dad, you swiftly brought your phone out seeing fifteen messages from your dad.

'sweetie what?! what's going on?!'
'answer your phone please?'
'why are you ignoring my texts?'

you called your dad back, and he almost picked up immediately. you spent your entire afternoon to evening chatting with your father on the phone explaining your eventful first day of school.

after eating dinner, you sat in your room cleaning your closet area, finishing the last set of boxes to move in. you didn't have much stuff yet, as the airport didn't let you carry too many items. your father had said he would ship some boxes to you of your stuff back home so that you'd have everything you need for comfortable living. you also asked him to pack some snacks from your home country to give to marinette and nino. you smiled at the thought of what their reactions would be to your gesture.

however, the temporary bliss fell short as you felt a pair of eyes on you. some sort of shivering intuition type of thing. you felt eyes bore into your back and you started to get nervous. slowly looking back to your shoulder at your window sill, you swear you saw a dark figure stay still through the glass. scared, you silently walked to the window to get a closer look, but when you did, the shadow was gone.

were you hallucinating?

you were sure you saw something. opening your window you look down, up, and sideways to see if there was any bird, animal, or hopefully not a person... lurking your window. however, you met with the cold windy parisian air and nothing but darkness.

maybe it was the akuma attack today. keeping you on your feet from paranoia. you shook your head and closed your window back again.
