Niall || Part Five

“Hey, Demi!” I exclaimed, not bothering to knock on the door. I was on my toes just beaming for her reaction.

“Niall?” she says, opening the door. Her voice seemed a bit nervous, but I assumed it was due to surprise. She seemed to look a bit pale, and my smile slowly faded in worry.

“Yeah, aren’t you happy to see me?” I joked. “Are you okay? You look kind of pale.”

“Sorry, I get really anxious to know when you come back and now you know what happened,” she gestured to herself.

I studied her, frowning slightly, noticing weight loss. More weight loss than necessary. I wondered if she was even eating well. She didn’t look too well, and she didn’t seem so excited looking closely. “You’ve lost weight over the nearly two months of not seeing me.”

She giggled sheepishly, making me recall the time when I had old Joe about the thing with Tyra. Weird, what exactly did Joe mean? “Haha, yeah…I guess so.”

Then the thought of the many bags of food I bought hit me, making me perk up in seconds. “Time to gain it all back then!”

“Huh?”

I grinned at her, happy to announce my plans for the day. “First, we’re going to that café from before! And then, we’ll walk—or maybe, take a long ride—towards the picnic destination I set up!”

Okay, so I didn’t really set it up, but I planned the whole thing.

She nodded slowly, albeit taking in all the energy I was emitting. “So, is there a dress code, or something?” she snickers. And that’s all it took for me to trust that she was alright.

       At least, I hoped.

I took one step closer and kissed her on the cheek, missing her touch. “Not really anything fancy,” I say noting how I should try planning a fancier date in the future, “but something cozy would be good. It may be cold at night where we’re going.”

“O-okay…something cozy, but not too cozy for the café thing, right?”

I took a step back and my smile grew wider. “Mmhmm! And here,” I handed her the small box that contained the bracelet, proud of myself (even if I wasn’t the person who chose it…). “A small gift for you.”

She looked at in awe and held it in her hands in wonder. “What is it…?”

I laughed. She looked so funny, resembling a little girl even. “Open it and find out!”

She did so, and was so surprised that she covered her mouth, overwhelmed.

You did a wonderful job, Louis’ sister.

“It’s so pretty!” she exclaimed, studying the bracelet’s charms, and noticing the pot of gold – which wasn’t gold ironically.

“I’m glad you like it, I actually had to ask a few people for an opinion,” I said. In a way it wasn’t so much of a lie, it just didn’t portray the whole truth. “I didn’t think asking you would help surprise you, after all.”

She giggles. “Yeah it really wouldn’t have. Thanks, Niall.”

I watched her look at the bracelet happily, and then we shared a smile. “Get dressed! I’ll be waiting for you downstairs!” I left before she could protest, because I just knew I’d turn red in a few moments.
