CHAPTER 40 - Hang On

"SHANE!" I walk over but freeze at the sight of his eyes. I look at Liam seeing his teeth under a smirk, covered in blood.

"Go on, do it!" Liam dares.

"No! Shane, what are you doing?" I walk closer and slowly place my hand on his shoulder. "Don't do this, please." I whisper.

"Don't listen to her, Shane. Come on. PULL THE TRIGGER!" Liam roars.

"Liam stop it! You are hurting! This is not the way." I wrap my hand firmly around Shane's shouler and slowly lean in and lower his gun. Gently we move away and Shane lets go of Liam.

"Please go to my room. I'll be there soon." I quickly pick up his pants and push it against him.
"Sage-"
"-GO!" I push him further.

Shane walks through the kitchen door and Liam's slow laugh turns me toward him.

"What is wrong with you?" I snap.

"WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? HIM? Really! After what he did?"
"Liam... You are angry and not thinking straight...Maybe you should go-"

"-Why, so you can finish fucking him?"
"Stop it!"

"Everything I said to you, did it even matter? Did you even hear a fucking word I said?"
"Liam, I-"

"-You feel absolutely nothing for me? What we had, did it not mean a damn thing to you?"
"What did we have, Liam? You are so confusing and only now told me how you actually felt!"

"Exactly! I stood there like an idiot telling you how I feel and you still go ahead and fuck HIM!" His voice cracks like thunder.

"Holy shit!"

I turn towards Luke standing in the doorway with enlarged eyes.

"Where is Shane?" He walks toward Liam and grabs onto his chin, examining his wounds.

"He is in the room. Cooling off." I answer.

"Why in the hell did these two fight like this?"

He lets go of Liam as Liam pushes his arm away and turns towards me.

"They, Uhm-"
"-she fucked him." Liam spits blood into the sink.

"Oh Sage..." Luke looks at me with disappointment plastered all over his face.

"I'm sorry." I say quickly, grab my keys and dart for the door.

"Where are you going?" Luke follows.
"I don't know... but anywhere is better than here."

"Hey..." Luke grabs onto my arm.
"It's okay, just-"

"-no! It's not okay! Nothing is okay... everywhere I go people get hurt. I can't keep doing this. I can't keep looking at Liam and Shane because every time I do they somehow screw my brain up and I end up doing shit like this! Both of them love me, Luke. Liam spilled his heart out and I... he... " I shove Luke's hand off me and open the door.

"Sage, wait! You are emotional, you shouldn't be driving." Luke follows me as I walk towards my car. I open the door and see Luke's hand grab onto it.

"Just stop! Talk to me. Just stay here and talk to me."

"Talk? What am I supposed to say Luke? I love two guys at the same time, one who is your brother. Not to mention I witnessed your other brother getting shot in the head! Why are you even here? Shouldn't you be mourning?"

"What the fuck, Sage are you hearing yourself right now? You called me! Don't try to deflect this and push me away! I am not the enemy!"

"Why do you always come to my rescue? Why don't you just tell me to fuck off? Why is everyone always trying to help me!"
