Vibrations fill my chest as I open my eyes and see lasers flying through the air, thick smoke and people moving with the beat. The music dances on my skin causing me to close my eyes and let it consume me. A sudden bump against my back sends me turning and was met with dark brown eyes and a small smile I could vaguely see. I return the gesture and walk towards the bar. I take my phone from my pocket and walk towards the back entrance.
"Hey girl! I know I should have been there an hour ago, I just have to finish up and I'm coming!"
"Hey Ash! I thought you were standing me up, No worries I'm keeping myself busy."
"No! I hardly get to see you since you are basically claimed. Had a last minute yoga session but should be done in about five minutes okay."
"I really don't know how you do it... And hey! I am not claimed and yes of course how could I not dance, okay hurry I told Nik I'll be home by twelve."
"Since when do you have a curfew? See...Claimed!"
"No! It's out of respect. He is my boyfriend."
"Sage... You have been seeing him for like two months. I don't know why you are being so serious. It was just supposed to be something casual."
"Well you were the one who told me to give him a chance and I actually do really like him."
"Out of all the times, this is the time you chose to listen to me... I just don't like the way he looks at you. Like you're some sort of possession."
My eye catches a man with the same brown eyes from the dance floor walking towards me.
"Ash! Be nice! Listen, hurry up then we can talk all you want. I'll see you soon okay."
"Okay I'll be there soon."
I push my phone in my pocket and before I can walk he stops in front of me.
"Sage?"
I look at his eyes and feel my brain twitch.
"Aiden?"
His smile grows bigger, wrapping his arms around me and looks at me again.
"I thought it was you! Can't forget a face like yours!"
"It's been ages... How have you been?"
"It definitely has! I've been great and you? Where have you been all these years?"
Looking as perfect as the last time I saw him I clear my throat.
"Agh I've been around... and you?"
"I want to hear all about it, let's go grab a drink..." I look at his hand stretched out. Hesitant I take it and follow him to the bar.
He waves at the bartender and leads me to a chair. I sit down and place my handbag on my lap. I watch him place his order and look away quickly as he moves closer.
"So... you kind of just disappeared. I tried calling you after our night but it went straight to voicemail."
"Straight to the point huh?" I say folding my hair behind my ear.
"Can I be honest with you?" He takes the drinks and slides mine in front of me.
I take a sip arching my eyebrows signals him to proceed.
"I never really stopped thinking about you-"
"-I'm in a relationship, Aiden..."
His eyes widen and I see he's struggling to get his drink down.
