I narrow my eyes; trying to focus on the object on the side of the road, horror hits me, realizing it's a car. I pull to the side, flinging my door open and tugging my coat around my neck. The heavy downpour lightens up leaving my vision not as blurry as before. I make my way to the car, lowering myself to reach the side window.

"Hello! Can you hear me?" I scream at a silhouette crunch between the front seats. I get up running to my car, swinging my door open and reach for my phone.

"I need an ambulance at Seventh Avenue, Lake Side. There has been a car accident, one female, looks like she is hurt quite badly. Head trauma. She is not responsive."

"Any other cars involved?"

"No, no other car. I can only see her car..."

I turn to face the car and my stomach turns.

"The car is on fire!"

I drop my phone on the seat and run.

I kick the remaining glass from the back window out and start crawling through.

"Just hang on, I'm right here okay, I'll get you out." Adrenaline seeps through me; smelling the oil, I grab her arms stretched above her and pull her from the car, dragging her along the grass away from the car and stop to assess her.

Everything inside me turns cold as I take a look at her face.

Sage?

"SAGE!"

"Sage, can you hear me?"

I drop my ear to her mouth, lifting her chin.

Nothing.

Her chest caves at the constant pressure from my hands.

"Stay with me!"

I can feel my arms tense about to go into a spasm.

I listen again.

Nothing. FUCK!

"DAMN-IT SAGE! YOU'RE NOT DEAD!"

I carry on pressing as hard as I can.

"COME-ON! BREATHE..."

"We'll take over from here." A sudden voice brings me back. I look up and see paramedics all around me readying themselves. I pull back, kneeling. Unable to speak, unable to move.

A sudden voice behind me breaks the deafening silence in my head: "Do you know her?"

"Shane... Shane?"

I turn towards Sage, noticing the rays brightening her hair.

"What's on your mind?" She asks; her voice barely audible. I turn to face the window, leaning my head against it; seeing a familiar sign.

"We're here."

I open my door and head towards the back to get the luggage; Sage is right behind me standing close to me. I walk towards the glass doors seeing a familiar face coming out.

"Detective Colton, great seeing you again... And of course the lovely Sage."

"Commander Harris. Yes it has been a while, Sir. Yes, Sage: Captain Dave Harris the director of Security Services." I look at Sage as she flashes a quick smile then turns her eyes to me.
