Distant sirens echo, I feel my chest getting heavy. My skin ripples with goosebumps as the wind blows over it. My hair is wet yet I feel warmth surrounding it. My lungs struggling to absorb the air, I taste something sweet slipping down my lip.

Is that rain?

The heaviness in my chest is becoming unbearable.

Why can't I open my eyes?

I feel slight tugs on my body. A deep husky voice that sounds muffled demanding 'stay with me'.

Hardly faced by this voice I only see darkness, beautiful yet terrifying darkness. It has an overwhelming sense of peace about it. A peace I have never felt before.

Beginning to feel comfortable with the peace now surrounding me like a tender hug, I feel the pressure on my chest lift.

Am I dreaming?

No. It feels too real.

Mom taught me that if you're in a dream you cannot feel pain. I always thought it was a silly thing to think but I finally had the chance to see for myself.

Agh... What was that?

Wait, I haven't even...

Aagh...

I feel a sharp pain entering my chest. With it, it leaves a sense of heat behind. As quickly as it came it disappears allowing the heat to stay a little longer before it leaves.

For a moment the sound of sirens deepens and fades again.

"Clear...."

I feel another sharp pain shoot through me and the heat travels through my whole body trying to escape, almost like it was being kept captive inside me.

I hear a faint voice "Not responding, again".

Something is wrong... I'm not dream-

"Clear......"

The sharp pain intensifies as my whole body feels like it is being consumed with fire yet at the same time I feel like I'm floating in a never-ending cold darkness.

What is going on?

Okay, think Sage, what was the last thing you remember?

Think...

...Breathe...

...Do something...

Anything!

Rain... I remember the rain...

The rain beating on the windshield...

"Sage..."
"Sage, are you okay?"

I open my eyes and see Dr. Spencer staring at me like she is waiting for a reply.

"What?" I bark at her and notice my cheeks wet.

"Are you okay?" She asks in a quiet manner.

"I'm fine." I say while I wipe my cheeks with the palms of my hands.

"Sage I can't help you if you're not honest with me... Tell me what did you see?"

I look down at my hands; I quickly brush them against my pants.
