CHAPTER 15 - How Beautiful You Are

I sigh, bringing my arms up and wrap my hands around her waist. Her hands instantly grabs onto my shirt resting them against my chest.
"Okay-"
"-okay?"
"I'll speak to Maple and see what we can do..." I lie.

Guilt burns inside me but I push it down. We have bigger things to worry about.
"Okay... Thank you, I'll try to explain as much detail as I can-"
I pull her into me and press my lips against hers. She hesitates for a second but gives in, kissing me back. We slowly pull away leaving only our foreheads touching.

"What was that for?" Her voice sounds soft.
"To get you to stop talking." I smile as she pulls away quickly and slaps my shoulder.
"Don't worry about details, okay... I'll sort it out..."

Seeing her smile I know she accepted my request.

I give her a quick peck against her cheek and turn towards the door.
"Get dressed, I want to show you something."

"Shane... My feet hurt! How much further?"
"We're almost there..." The tone of his voice seems excited.
"Where is there?" I ask, feeling annoyed.
"Agh... Get on!" Shane stops dead in front of me and bends down on his hind legs.
I accept his offer.

"So... I guess this is the part where you pretend you're taking me to a nice place and end up murdering me with a rock or something."

Shane stops and looks at me over his shoulder.
"What? And waist a perfectly good rock? I was thinking more along the lines of pushing you down the waterfall."

Waterfall?

"What waterfall?-"
My words stuck in my mouth. I climb down from Shane's back and slowly drop my backpack next to me.

"Wow..." I gasp looking at the waterfall in front of me.

"How do you know about this place?" I turn to Shane and see him taking off his shirt walking past me towards the edge.

"Are you coming?" He takes a few steps back and dives head first!

"SHANE!" I run towards the edge and see his head come up out of the water with a grin on his mouth.

"ARE YOU CRAZY!?"
I watch him lift himself onto his back while his laugh echoes through the air.

You are seriously going to make me jump, aren't you?

I stand staring at the drop trying to gather enough strength to jump.

Nope! I am not planning on dying today!

I turn around.

"Don't you turn away from this! Jump!"
I turn around and swallow a lump forming inside my throat seeing the water against his skin.

"Come-on Sage! We haven't walked all this way just for you to chicken out on me."
"No Shane. This isn't chicken! This is suicidal!"
"What!? It's not even that high... We only live once. I'll catch you okay!"

Come-on Sage... You survived a car accident, amnesia and now you're going to jump to your death... great.

"I can't believe I am doing this!" I shout as I quickly strip to my underwear. My cheeks warm up hearing Shane's uncontrollable whistling.
"Shut-up! I need to concentrate!" I demand and close my eyes.

I fill my lungs with as much air as I can.
