Clever Hans

"Where are you going, Hans?" asks Hans's mother. "To see Gretel." says Hans. "Good luck, Hans." "Sure thing.
"Bye, mother" "Bye, Hans."
Hans goes to Gretel's. "Afternoon, Gretel." "Afternoon, Hans. What have you brought me?" "Brought nothing. You give something." Gretel gives Hans a needle. Hans says: "Bye, Gretel." "Bye, Hans."

Hans takes the needle, sticks it in a hay wagon, and walks home behind the wagon. "Evening, mother." "Evening, Hans. Where have you been?" "Been to see Gretel." "What did you bring her?"
"Brought nothing. She gave." "What did Gretel give you?" "Gave a needle." "What did you do with the needle, Hans?" "Stuck it in hay wagon." "That was foolish, Hans. You should have stuck it in your sleeve." "Don't worry. Better luck next time."

"What did you do with the knife?" "Stuck it in sleeve." "That was foolish, Hans. You should have put it in your pocket." "Don't worry better luck next time."
"Where are you going, Hans?" "To see Gretel, mother." "Good fuck, Hans." "Sure thing. 'Bye, mother." "Bye, Hans." Clans goes to Gretel's. "Afternoon, Grete!.?" "Afternoon, Hans. What have you brought me?" "Brought nothing. You give something." Gretel gives Hans a young goat. "Bye, Gretel." "Bye, Hans."
Hans takes the goat, ties her legs, and puts her in his pocket. By the time he gets home the goat has smothered. "Evening, mother." "Evening, Hans. Where have you been?" "Been to see Gretel.?
«What did you bring her?" "Brought nothing. She gave." "What did Gretel give you?" "Gave goat." "What have you done with the goat, Hans?" "Put her in pocket." "That was foolish, Hans. You should have put a rope around the goat's neck and led her home." "Don't worry. Better luck next time."

Hans takes the bacon, ties a rope around it, and drags it behind him. Dogs come and eat the bacon. When he gets home, he has the rope in his hand but there's nothing on it. "Evening, mother." "Eve-ning, Hans. Where have you been?" "Been to see Gretel." "What did you bring her?" "Brought nothing. She gave." "What did Gretel give you?" "Gave piece of bacon." "What have you done wish the bacon, Hans" "Tied a rope around it, dragged home, dogs took away." "That was foolish, Hans. You should have carried the bacon on your head." "Don't worry. Better luck next time."

Hans takes the calf and puts it on his head. The calf kicks him in the face. "Evening, mother." "Evening, Hans. Where have you been? Been to see Grete!?" "What did you bring her?" "Brought nothing. She gave?" "What did Gretel give you?" "Gave calf What have you done with the calf, Hans?" "Put it on head, kicked face." "That was foolish, Hans. You should have put a rope around the calf's neck and led it to the feed rack." "Don't worry. Better luck next time."
"Where are you going, Hans?" "To see Gretel, mother." "Good luck, Hans." "Sure thing. 'Bye, mother." " Bye, Hans.' Hans goes to Gretel's. "Afternoon, Gretel." "Afternoon, Hans, What have you brought me?" "Brought nothing. You give some thing." Gretel says to Hans: "I'll go along with you."
Hans takes Gretel, puts a rope around her neck, leads her to the feed rack, and ties her fast. Then Hans goes to his mother. "Evening, mother." "Evening, Hans. Where have you been?" "Been to see Gre tel." "What did you bring her?" "Brought nothing." "What did Gretel give you?" "Gave nothing. Came along." "Where did you leave Gretel?" "Put rope around her neck, tied her to feed rack, and threw her some grass." "That was foolish, Hans. You should have cast sheep's eyes at her." "Don't worry. I will."
Hans goes to the barn, cuts the eyes out of all the sheep, and throws them in Gretel's face. At that Gretel gets angry, tears herself loose, and runs away. She's not engaged to Hans anymore.
