With Jack's harrowing tale still echoing in my thoughts, I couldn't help but express the depth of my relief and concern.

I wrapped my arms around him in a tight, heartfelt embrace, my voice tinged with a touch of humor but also genuine worry.

"Don't you ever do that again," I teased lightly, attempting to lighten the mood amidst the chaos that surrounded us. "Don't you ever leave us like that again."

"We're all tired, scared, but we should never lose hope, especially not now. And besides, we have each other." Alex said.

Jack responded with a warm smile, his eyes reflecting the bond that had been solidified through shared trials and tribulations. "Group hug?" he suggested, and without hesitation, the three of us drew together in an embrace that transcended words.

After a time, I turned back to Joana who had shown such kindness and warmth.

Her eyes glistened with a mixture of emotions, her gentle smile a testament to the quiet strength and resilience that persisted even in the face of unimaginable adversity.

With a single tear trailing down her cheek, she silently departed, leaving behind a profound sense of unity and shared humanity that would continue to anchor us in the turbulent days ahead.

I shared the tales of Jack and Alex with Gabriel and his happiness mirrored my own.

The night had fallen, and with it came a sudden change in the weather.

Gabriel and I found a rare moment of respite within the confines of our makeshift tent. The flimsy fabric provided little insulation against the harsh elements, but it was enough to grant us a semblance of privacy.

As if acknowledging the cold, Gabriel gently closed the tent , granting us a small cocoon of warmth within.

He settled beside me, his touch tender as he placed his warm hand against my chilled cheek.
His eyes dancing with playful curiosity.

"So, Athena," he began, his tone a teasing blend of sarcasm and humor, "what really happened to me that day? You know, the day I PaSsED oUt."

He delivered the words with a wink and a sly grin, causing a gentle warmth to bloom in my chest. Despite the dire circumstances, his charm had the power to elicit a smile even in the darkest of times.

I couldn't help but play along, a blush dusting my cheeks as I recalled that vulnerable moment. "Oh, you heard that, did you?" I quipped, my voice laced with mock annoyance.

A playful smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as he broke the silence. " Yeah, I mean, I don't remember anything, except you saying something like, 'Gabriel, I love you,'" he mimicked my voice playfully.

I felt a rush of warmth and affection wash over me, and I couldn't help but blush at the memory. With a mock stern expression, I raised a teasing finger and gently poked his chest. "You scared me that day," I confessed, a soft laugh escaping my lips. "But let's not dwell on the past, shall we?"

Gabriel leaned in closer, his voice a sultry whisper. "You know, Athena, hearing you say those words in your voice was quite an unforgettable moment."

I chuckled, feeling a rush of warmth and desire. "Oh, really? Should I remind you again?" I responded with a sly grin, my face inching closer to his.

His eyes darkened with a mixture of amusement and longing as our lips hovered dangerously close. "Maybe you should," he challenged, his breath mingling with mine.

Our noses brushed lightly, and I could feel his heartbeat quicken, mirroring my own. The tension in the air was palpable, and it seemed as if the world outside had vanished, leaving only the two of us in this intimate bubble.

But just as the moment reached its peak, I couldn't help but playfully dodge away, a mischievous glint in my eyes. "Oops, looks like someone needs to wait a little longer," I teased, earning a mock glare from Gabriel.

He chuckled in response, a mixture of frustration and amusement in his tone. "Not fair, Athena."

With a grin, I nestled into my makeshift bedroll, leaving Gabriel pouting playfully. "Goodnight, Gabriel. Sweet dreams," I said with a wink, and before he could retort, I closed my eyes and drifted into slumber, leaving him in delightful frustration.

Gabriel's mischievous side was in full bloom tonight. As I lay there, pretending to sleep, he couldn't resist a playful challenge. With a sudden pull, he rolled me onto my back and lay on top of me, his warmth enveloping me.

He whispered with a hint of vulnerability, "I know you're fake sleeping, Athena." His fingers traced gentle circles on my cheek, and his touch sent delightful shivers down my spine.

I maintained my act, breathing steadily and keeping my eyes closed. His nearness was electrifying, and I was determined not to let him win this playful game.

His face hovered inches above mine as he softly straggled a strand of hair from my forehead. The tender touch made my heart race, but I resisted the urge to give in to his charms.

After a moment of suspense, Gabriel let out a resigned chuckle. "Fine," he said with a playful sigh, clearly realizing that I was committed to my act. With a final lingering touch, he rolled back onto his side of the bed.

As he turned off the lantern, our tent was plunged into darkness, but the warmth of our connection lingered. With a contented smile, I drifted into slumber, knowing that this playful exchange was just one of the many joys of having Gabriel by my side.
