LISA POV

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. Letting out a yawn, I got up from my bed and went to open the curtains of my penthouse room. I smiled as I looked at the view since I could see the sunrise from here. I had personally chosen this side of the room when Irene purchased the penthouse.

The sight of the sunrise always reminded me of new beginnings and a whole new day of possibilities. I loved waking up to things that fascinated me, which is why I had a longing for architectural designs and books. I hummed to myself as I turned to start my morning routine.

After taking a refreshing shower, I decided to wear comfy clothes, as KIU (KIM INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY) didn't require uniforms, and students could choose their attire. I put on my glasses and aligned my bangs before smiling at my reflection in the mirror.

Today was my first day at KIU, and the excitement bubbled within me. The university had an excellent reputation for education, and its graduates easily found job opportunities. However, that wasn't the sole reason I chose to study here.

I grabbed my sling bag and carefully slid in the new book that Irene had bought for me yesterday, "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger. It was a thoughtful gift, and I was eager to read it. With the book in my bag, I left my room and headed to the kitchen, knowing my lovely sister was preparing our breakfast. And just as I expected, she was busy bustling around the kitchen as I stepped in.

Smiling from my spot, I looked at Irene's serious face as she focused on her tasks. I felt incredibly thankful and blessed that she took me in when I was 9 years old. On the day she brought me into her life, I made a silent promise to myself that anyone who would hurt her would face my wrath.

Clearing my throat to gain her attention, I watched as she glanced up and scanned my outfit, something she always did to check if I was dressed too nerdy.

"What will be the fashion verdict today?" I asked, doing a single twirl to give her a good look.

"It's cute," she commented, making me blush. Irene always gave compliments, but they still made me feel shy. Nevertheless, I smiled back and walked over to her.

"Good morning," I greeted, giving her a hug and kiss on her cheek.

"How did I get so lucky to have such a cute and adorable sister?" she asked, pinching my cheeks and giving them a kiss, causing me to giggle.

"Then I must have been so unlucky," I teased, making her laugh.

She prepared a healthy breakfast for both of us as usual. On my plate, there was toast with avocado on top, an omelette, and a serving of sliced fresh fruits. She knows that I don't argue with heart surgeons like her, who advocate for low-fat meals to take care of our hearts and bodies. I also had my chocolate milk, while she opted for a cup of tea. I always appreciate her efforts in making nutritious meals.

After finishing our breakfast, we headed to my school together. I was grateful for her company on this day. As we arrived, I couldn't help but admire the school's exterior-it had an inviting and inspiring atmosphere, a beautiful blend of architectural aesthetics and functionality that fascinated me at first glance.

"I can tell that you'll get a great school days here." I heard Irene said making me look at her and stop being nerdy for a second. "I think we need to move now and go to the principal's office to have you checked for your schedule for the whole semester." She said that made me blush in embarrassment, mumbling sorry as I went to her.

As we walked together inside the school, I noticed many students stealing glances at Irene, which triggered my protective instincts. I couldn't help but grab her hand, and she responded by chuckling and properly intertwining our fingers. We approached the principal's office, and Irene asked one of the students for directions.
