"At that Old The-" Leslie's mother head started to shake "No it's fine, I know what's going on I think, some things are better left unsaid, seeing my little girl on that stage smiling and sharing that joy and love for music with others as she performed-that's more than enough. I was suspicious at first, but whoever you are Miss Musera" Leslie's mother took Muse's hand into hers "You have my thanks."
"Mom! Muse c'mon!!" Leslie's mother wave back as Leslie waved at them "Shall we go?" Leslie's mother's smile warmed Musera's heart "Of course" they joined hand in hand as they walked to the car "Now I might need that skin routine...your hands are so soft" Leslie's mother and Musera started hitting it off "Not as clear as yours" Musera complimented "I've got a few spots covered up..you can't tell?"
" I really can't tell.." Douglas mused aloud, Gano had woken up but had been staring off into nothing since 'Got to find Tess, all this is my fault.. I just have to...' Gano thoughts were flooded with worry, and he found it hard to think "There's a fair in town so that's probably our best lead" Douglas was phone scrolling and mining for information for the last couple of hours"Why there?"
Brook asked, he'd been less talkative they closer they got "It's all about chance, if we can increase randomness of each and every occurrence ; we have a greater chance of running into someone who knows something that can lead us to Anessa and Tess" he explained, Brook turned up his nose unimpressed "Sounds like way around saying we're counting on luck."
"Luck is all we have" Gano broke his silence"Akurasa's breaking rules involving Tess and her friend" Green electricity crackling around him, Douglas could tell Gano was upset "Breaking what rules? And I've heard that name mentioned before, who is that ?" a million questions came to mind "He's-the one in charge of the group I was apart of."
Douglas placed a hand on his chin more perplexed "So what rules is he breaking? Weren't you breaking a rule by crossing over into our dimension?" Gano nodded "Yes, especially without permission, however in the multiverse's grand scheme it's not that big of infraction-endangering innocents from a world not your own is.." Douglas scratched his fro, trying to add everything together.
"Something's still missing Gano...What aren't you telling us?" Gano closed his eyes and opened them up "Akurasa's ability allows him to grant others abilities allows him a loophole-that's why he's been sending people after us-that gives him an out if things go awry; Everyone-with exception of Mayuri- has been been enhanced by proxy, and that's why no matter how dire things get I try my best not to kill" Gano looked down at his hands.
"So you don't want to break that rule?" Brook asked, Gano took a breath to calm himself "Brook I'm sorry for everything that's happened, if it comes down to it I-" he was cut off soon as he spoke "Spare me. Omitting so much is no matter than lying" Gano's eyes cast downward as he spoke "If Tess were her she'd-" Making sure no one was around them , Brook put the car on cruise control.
Unbuckling his seatbelt, he cocked back slugging Gano right in his left eye "Ow!" Gano took it head on, but he couldn't from yelling in reflex and covering that spot "Yo Brook! Chill man!" Douglas pulled Brook back "Now stop throwing pity party and get back to being bad ass!" Brook yelled as he put his seatbelt back and turned cruise control off.
"Kill. Don't kill. I don't care...just make sure everyone's safe-" Brook rubbed his knuckles "I know you can" out of nowhere Gano started to laugh "Oh man! Wasn't expecting that!!" Douglas looked at like he'd grown an extra head "Gano you okay?" Douglas asked "Yeah, thanks for not losing faith in me guys, I had lost it in myself...and thanks for not turning me in" he added on "We can't....too far down the rabbit hole now"
