*97: The Emo Band Breaks Up

Start from the beginning

Strange.

In any case, you can't say you aren't curious to see what Remmy will make next Wednesday.

"Ma dame, is this truly the end of the club?" Rook frowns.

"Yep."

He sighs dramatically, "Oh, how will I tell Monsieur Magicam?"

"Now that you mentioned it," Crewel steps forward from behind you, holding out his hand, "I'll be taking that camera, Rook."

Holy crap you totally forgot about that.

Shit, you doubt that Crewel will let you look through the footage.

Rook doesn't hide his pout. He removes his hat to take off the small camera clipped to the brim. With much hesitation, he places it on the center of Crewel's palm.

You cross your arms and look at your gaggle of friends. They all look like shit, and trying to have to explain this to anyone who sees them like this when they go back to their dorm will be a pain. You never want this to happen to them again.

"Grim won't be happy about this either, you know," Deuce says.

"I'm hella glad Grim wasn't here," You shudder just thinking about it, "I'm sure he'll understand if I explain it to him."

Kalim fiddles with the fabric hanging from his turban, "As club president, can we have one last Morale Speech?"

"You forgot the ™."

"...The what?"

"Nevermind," You hum and put your hand to your chin in thought, "Give me a moment. I gotta make this one count."

What can you even say to them? Tonight was so fucking ass. You didn't realize how bad it was until you regrouped with the others after talking to the authorities.

Deuce was the first one who ran up to you and hugged you, squeezing you tight while babbling how he was glad that you were okay. Then Kalim was an immediate second, then Kaiko finally. The others were more reserved about their relief, but they still expressed their concern all the same... Minus Jamil because he's too cool for school.

Anyway, everyone's concern made you feel like scum. You didn't actually realize... It reminded you once again that while they've had their fair share of traumatic experiences, they weren't "numb" to it like you were. It wasn't normalized in the way you had normalized it in your own life.

The truth wasn't that you overestimated their abilities, it was that you completely disregarded how normal they were in comparison to you. You thought they would be able to tough it out because you could tough it out, and you've been through worse. So everything else was just a walk in a park.

It was so irresponsible of you, and so inconsiderate in a weird way.

"You're probably tired of hearing it, but I really am sorry about today. And I'm sorry for the other times as well. Jamil, I'm especially sorry to you because I completely brushed off your words multiple times, I should've listened to you. That was irresponsible of me, and I don't expect any forgiveness," You smile slightly, "I have to say though, the past club sessions made me realize something, I always tried to take matters into my own hands because I thought I had to. But every time, you guys showed me what you were all capable of. Individually and in a group, your guys' power and teamwork always amazed me. I was always proud when one of you would step up, or when you worked together."

"Even though it's ending here, I hope you guys can find some way to take what you learned and experienced into stride. You've fought hard, and every time we've made it out alive one way or the other. And every time we've accomplished what we set out to do. It might've been scary and hard, but in the end, without fail, we've been victorious."
