A/N: I just realized I never showed what the weird magic rune looks like. I've mentioned it a few times but never actually described it or showed it so here it is! This has NO secret meaning!! Literally just some random ass shapes that I thought looked suspicious! And if it turns out it does somehow mean something?? Well then!! 😭

I've been having some motivation issues lately lmao Not necessarily burned out or anything, it's just hard to get up to write chapters. BUT!!! I AM FEELING BETTER!!! Sorry this chapter is short, I just wanted to get this out so it doesn't collect dust

You walk down the stairs all the while listening to Venus's short recap of what you missed. He was telling you word for word of the conversation he was previously having with Himé Yan. She didn't seem out of the ordinary from what he was describing, and that she thought Crewel was a sexy doctor, while you and Romeo were unpaid interns doing a check up on her since she's old.

"Three?" You mutter.

The others are waiting outside. Venus explained. Mr. Xingque didn't want all of us to go inside to investigate.

"Sus."

That's what I'm saying!

Walking into the lounge, you scan the room before you say anything to notify them of your presence whether they knew of it already or not.

The living room looked fine, nothing out of the ordinary that you can see. Sitting at the dining table was Himé Yan, with Romeo and Crewel sitting across from her. Xingque was standing behind her, his arms crossed and shoulders high up as if he was on alert.

You narrow your eyes at Xingque, feeling something extremely evil radiating off him.

Looking at Himé Yan, she was already fidgeting with her glasses before she nudged her cute old lady glasses up the bridge of her nose.

It's very possible that Xingque had lied about her habits, and that she's had these habits for a long time. He probably did it so that whenever she was doing it, you'd all notice and think he was telling the truth. As far as you're concerned, she's just doing her normal thing.

You plaster a smile on your face and walk further in, letting your presence be known. It seemed everyone but Xingque was surprised at your arrival, which only confirms your suspicion more.

Venus said that the furthest the three of them got was asking her a few questions about her health and how she was feeling. If that's the case, you want to do a little bit of a physical check.

"Sorry about that, I hope you weren't waiting for too long," You smile at Himé Yan, "Ms. Yan, if you don't mind, may I do a quick examination on you? Nothing too complicated, but I will be hearing your lungs from your back."

"What was that, dear?" Himé Yan leans forward.

Ah, right. She's hard of hearing. That's completely understandable because of her age. You feel completely safe from her, which cannot be said about Xingque.

"I need to do a physical examination, all you need to do is lean forward for a minute or so," You repeat loudly, "It won't take long, and you can stay sitting right where you are. Would that be okay?"
