You pull your arm away from the man, keeping it close to your chest. He lifts his hands up, showing he means no harm.

"You're at the hospital." The man says. You look around and slowly his statement starts to make sense. Taking a deep breath, you feel a beating pain in your chest. It makes you cough. "Are you feeling alright?"

Alright? No, not at all. Can't he see how much blood there is? You look down at your hands. But the blood is gone. You twist and turn your hands, looking at the back of them and at your palms, but it isn't there anymore.

"T-the blood.." Your throat feels dry, and the words are barely louder than a hoarse whisper. It burns when you speak. The man shifts his gaze from looking at your face to looking at your hands. He seems to think for a moment.

"Hey, don't worry. There's no blood. You're okay." He says with a gentle voice. It doesn't match his appearance at all. His hand reaches toward a button on the side of the bed. He presses it and a tiny red light turns on. Then he looks at you with dark eyes. "Do you remember me?"

You slowly shake your head no. As you do, you hear him let out a sigh as his head tilts forward slightly. A few seconds later, he looks up again.

"That's okay, that's okay."

The door to the room opens, and two women wearing blue clothes come in. They walk up to the bed and the man takes a step back.

"Good morning Y/n. How are you feeling?" One of them asks, a kind smile on her face. You open your mouth to speak, but only a few hushed whispers escape. Feeling your dry throat once again, you swallow multiple times. "Do you want some water?"

After you nod your head, the other nurse walks up to the sink in the room and gets a cup of water. The one who had been speaking moves her hand toward your face and you twitch your head back.

"Don't worry, I'll just remove this mask so you can drink." She says with a gentle tone. As she once again reaches for your face, you don't move. She removes the mask that has been covering your mouth and nose. The other nurse uses her hand to tilt your head back before she presses the cup against your lips. The cold water feels like a blessing as it lessens the dryness in your throat.

"We have to do a few tests Y/n, okay? It won't hurt, we'll just look at some of your reflexes." The nurse says after you're done drinking. You slowly nod your head. What they're about to do is somewhat scary, but the nurse's calm demeanor makes it a little less frightening.

It takes a little while, and the process is uncomfortable at times. They shine a flashlight at your eyes, ask you to squeeze their hands, run a pen under the sole of your foot and slightly pinch your arms. After the physical tests, you have to answer a set of questions. Your mind feels foggy, like trudging through a thick mist, and you have answers to barely one of the questions. They write away in their charts, noting the result of every test. When they're done, they let you know that there would soon be a doctor here to explain everything closer.

Right before they turn to head out of the room, the man who has been looking on grabs a hold of one of the nurses. He leans close to whisper something into her ear. The nurse nods slowly and then walks out the door. You're left alone with the man.

"I'm Simon.. or Ghost, maybe you remember that name better." He says with a strange accent. It doesn't make anything clearer for you, and it seems like he notices the confusion on your face. Sitting down on a chair next to the bed, he reaches out his hand and points toward your wrist. There's a dainty silver bracelet around it, with a small shimmering skull charm. "I gave that to you, but you probably don't remember."

You look at the bracelet for a few seconds, it's quite pretty, but you don't remember seeing it ever before. Trying hard to remember it makes you tired, and your eyes grow heavy.
