Three weeks go by. Every day you work through whatever files Price provides you with, nothing particularly interesting. Once a day, usually around lunch, you take a look at Ghost's wounds, rebandaging him whenever necessary, the wounds are healing quite fast. He still doesn't speak much, often spending his days out on long walks. You have grown comfortable with your routine. When Soap and Keegan come back to the cabin after missions, sometimes accompanied by Price, you debrief the current missions and then play a few rounds of cards to relax. Sometimes you bet with trail mix on who will win, you managed to win a whole bag once.

After reading through some notes the guys found the day before you realize it's quite some time after when you would usually look after Ghost. You remember hearing him come back from his walk a while ago so he is probably in his room. You stretch your back, trying to get rid of the slight back pain you get after sitting on the old swivel chair. After fetching the first aid kit you walk over to his door, knocking on it. You hear footsteps and then the door unlocks. As it opens you are met with a gust of steam. Ghost stands there, with only a towel wrapped around his waist. You can see water droplets slowly making their way down his now slightly red-tinted body. You have never seen this much of his oh-so-muscular body before. The first weeks it was mostly all gear, and lately he wore mostly jeans, t-shirts, and hoodies. But now he was standing in front of you with so little clothing, well, no clothing at all, just a towel. You can see his V-line, heading down and past the edge of the towel. You meet his eyes and you start to stumble over your words, so shocked at what you are seeing.

"Oh—" you start. "I didn't know you were showering." you turn to the side, as to begin walking away. "I can come back later."

"It's fine, you can come in." Ghost's voice sounds breathy. He opens the door further, inviting you in. As you come in he sits down on the bed, with his legs spread a bit less than usual, needing the cover of the towel. The gauze isn't on, him having removed it to shower. You lean in pretty close to look at the wounds. They are looking very good, still no infections. When you are this close, about 10 inches from his neck and head, you can smell his aftershave. It smells manly, and of wood and earthy herbs. You like it. You wipe down the wounds. He doesn't react to the wipes anymore, the wounds having healed up well.

You move on to the last step, wrapping a new gauze. This is secretly your favorite step since it means you get to be very close to his body, almost embracing him in a hug. As you wrap the gauze you feel the heat from his body radiating off, making you warm on the inside. You step away after securing the gauze, wiping your hands together to show your work is done. As you take another step you stumble over something on the floor, starting to fall backward. You feel a large hand on your back, catching you, and one on your stomach, steadying you. You feel that warm feeling in your stomach again, and even if you have grown quite used to feeling it, it still startles you each time.

"Don't cause another accident now." Ghost says as you straighten yourself up, his voice gives away the fact that he is smiling. You feel slightly embarrassed, Ghost having to save you once again.

"I'll try my best." you say, cringing at how stupid you sound. You turn to walk to the door.

"See you later." you say as you open the door. Ghost lifts his hand slightly, giving a short small wave. Then you walk out the door and close it behind you. As you stand in the corridor you try to catch your breath, realizing your heartbeat is unusually fast. When you have calmed down a bit you walk out to the porch and sit down at one of the lowest steps. You have started sitting on the porch for a little while every day, really appreciating the refreshing air outside. As you sit there, watching a bird fly across the sky, you can hear Ghost in the kitchen. He has been cooking quite a bit of food when you two are alone at the cabin. He always makes a plate for you. It is often something with beans, but you can't really expect a British army man in a cabin to not cook beans.
