Waking up on Monday morning, you realize you've started your period, earlier than usual. Annoyed, you get out of bed, grabbing the closest t-shirt and putting it on before walking out of your room and heading for the bathroom. You clean off your thighs, some blood has dripped down on them, before sticking a pad to your underwear.
When you are done, you unlock the bathroom door and start walking down the hallway toward your room. You see the door to Ghost's room open and he walks out. You look up at his eyes. Their expression hasn't changed at all during the past week, still just as dark and cold. His eyes wander down your body before looking back up at your face, disappointed.
"You have to be dressed properly on base." he says. You look down at your body. He is right, only being dressed in a t-shirt and panties is not the most appropriate thing to wear, but his comment gets on your nerves.
"Whatever." you say, rolling your eyes.
"You don't speak to your Lieutenant like that."
"Why are you so weird lately? Have I done something wrong?" you ask, tired of not knowing why he has been acting so off.
"Dressing like a hooker at work is wrong, yes."
Your mouth opens in shock at his words. Did he really just say that? You look at his eyes, hoping to see the regret in them as he realizes what he said. But it never appears, he meant it. This man has really spent the last month making you think he cared about you, only to now tell you that you look like a hooker. You realize he is just like every other disgusting man that views you only as a body, tossing you to the side of the road when he feels done with you. You feel the tears starting to form, and the irritation in your body is replaced by intense hurt. It feels like someone has grabbed a hold of your heart, crushing it in their hand.
Pushing past Ghost, you make your way to your room and slam the door behind you as you walk in. You sit down on the floor, leaning against the door. How could you fall for a man you haven't even seen the face of? How could you be so dumb and think he would actually be interested in anything other than sex? You declined going home because you were lusting over a douche-bag, fucking idiot.
Sitting on the floor, crying, you realize you can't keep working here. You'll never be able to look at him without thinking of all the things he's done just to get to your body, and it disgusts you. It's with tears streaming down your face that you gather all of your personal belongings and pack them into your bag after putting on more proper clothing. Your bag weighs significantly more now than when you left home.
It takes a while, but after having calmed down to the point of being able to talk properly and there not being any new tears coming out of your eyes, you decide to talk with Price. As you walk out of your room, you can hear voices in the kitchen. You take a deep breath before stepping into the doorway.
"Captain, can we talk?" you ask.
Price looks up at you, and as your eyes meet you can see the worry on his face. You probably look fucked up from having cried.
"Of course." he says as he stands up, leaving Keegan who was sitting with him at the table. The two of you walk out into the corridor. Price puts his hands on your shoulders.
"What's the matter l/n?"
"I've changed my mind. I want to go home."
"Has something happened?" His voice is calm, and you almost want to tell him about everything with Ghost, but you decide not to.
"I just realized I'm really homesick."
"I'll call right away, they might be able to pick you up today." Price squeezes your shoulders slightly. "Thank you for helping us out for the past months, it's been greatly appreciated, Sergeant."
