The annoying beeping of the alarm clock wakes you up. You reach with your arm to your nightstand and turn it off. Wanting to nuzzle up close to Ghost's body, your turn around. But he isn't laying there. You feel disappointed, and then you wonder about where he is. Sitting up, you look around the room. Then you spot the three bullet holes in the wall and you remember everything from the previous night. Are they still at the hospital? How is Soap doing?
You get up out of the bed and pull some clothes out of the dresser, it's still not back where it's supposed to be. You get dressed in a t-shirt and some sweatpants. Feeling anxious about Price and Ghost not being home yet, you decide to make some tea to calm down. Ghost has taught you how to make it, and you can manage to brew a decent cup, but his tea always tastes better.
You walk out of the bedroom and make your way to the kitchen. As you round the corner of the hallway you walk straight into a chest. Startled, you take a step back. Looking up at who you just walked straight into, you see his mask. Finally. You stand up on your toes, reaching your arms around him.
"You're back!" you say. Ghost places his hands on the outsides of your arms, pushing them down and forcing you to let go of him. You look up at him, confused as to why he did that. You search through his eyes, but you can't understand what you see, it's just cold. You feel a large anxious lump form in the back of your throat.
"How's Soap?"
"Alive. But he's still at the hospital." he says. His voice is raspy and unusually monotone. Relief showers over you.
"Thank god." you lay your hand on your chest, feeling your heart calm down. "Did you get home just now?"
"5 hours ago." Ghost says after looking down at his watch.
You give him a confused look. He hadn't come into your room all night, even if you have been sleeping together every night since you got here.
"Why didn't you come to sleep with me then?"
"Men and women don't share sleeping quarters."
You let out a quick laugh, amused by his sudden need to live by the army rules. When you look up at him and notice he is being serious, you suddenly feel an uncomfortable feeling grow in your gut. What? You hear footsteps coming from behind Ghost and you lean to the side to look behind him. It's Price that's walking down the corridor.
"Morning l/n." he says.
"Morning." you answer back.
"Soap is doing alright. It will take a couple of weeks, but he will be back. How's Russ?"
You quickly describe the severity of Keegan's injuries, they were not that bad and you only had to clean them up a bit and put on some bandages. After bringing Price up to speed, he thanks you for taking care of Keegan.
"I need to talk to you, come visit me after breakfast." he says before walking into the office, leaving you and Ghost alone in the corridor. You feel a tension between the two of you, one that you haven't felt in a long while. You swallow, feeling uncomfortable, before walking into the kitchen. Ghost doesn't join you and you start to wonder if you might have done something to piss him off.
After finishing your breakfast, consisting of tea and some scrambled eggs, you make your way into the office, where Price is already sitting down at the large table in the middle. You pull out a chair and sit down. Price is smoking a cigar and he blows out some smoke before talking.
"I've been in contact with General Stark. Right after Christmas, they are starting training on some new soldiers in the computer department, and he asked if you would like to go back home to supervise them."
