Chapter 23

For the next few hours I decided to drown myself in work, checking scans, meeting up with patients for a post surgery check up. Thankfully all are doing well. From time to time I will be called into the ER to check up on emergency patients and brain scans.

I entered the ICU to check up on Jung Haru, who was still unconscious since she arrived into the hospital.

"Everything seems to be fine from the CT scan" Miss Jeon said as I looked over the computer that showed the test results and the CT scans. And indeed everything seemed to be doing well.

"Then why isn't she waking up?" I said. "I mean her blood seems good, all surgeries went well, brain is doing okay. But she is still unconscious"

"There is still hope she will wake up. I mean it's the only thing we can do." Miss Jeon said

"I just hope when she wakes up she is okay. Mentally and physically" I said, there were still no updates on the news after what we last heard. We made our way out of the ICU and into the Emergency room

"Oh by the way" Miss Jeon said suddenly sitting up straight on her chair and facing me, she innocently placed her elbow on the desk while maintaining intense eye contact with me and a small smile pulled on her face as she placed her chin on her palm "What is up with the Yeonjun guy?"

"Oh god please don't" I said trying to resist to roll my eyes

"No really that man is obsessed with you. At first I thought he was a creep since he will always ask about you whenever I would get his vitals from hour to hour, but I did hear a weird ass rumour" she said leaning in as if she will tell me a secret "That he is your fiance"

She paused for a second waiting for me to reply and I didn't react to her comment "It's true?" she said as her jaw dropped and her eyes widen "Wait wait wait... so- Ugh- if you don't mind me asking"

"Sure go ahead" I said reducing my expectations and just wanting this conversation to end already

"Was he the father of your child?" she asked, I felt my body freeze in place. Out of all the questions she could have asked, I didn't expect that one. I simply nodded. I knew I could trust Miss Jeon because she helped me alot through my recovery alongside Doctor Park.

"He doesn't know though" I said

"He doesn't know that you miscarried?" she asked shocked

"No, he doesn't know at all about the pregnancy" I said

"Why?" she asked

"His mother didn't approve and she paid me off. I was naive enough to believe her" I said

"What?! Are you kidding?" she whispered with disbelief filling her face "Let me tell you something because you reminded me of myself. So you do know I am married to Jungkook who is a boss of the strongest mafia in South Korea" she said and I nodded "Obviously before he became a boss his mother was busy trying to marry him to a woman on his level who was also involved in the mafia business, so what happened when we started dating? No one in his family approved and I'm talking like no one. Even the nannies. They would give me the dirtiest looks. Even my own family didn't approve obviously I'm in the medical field and they didn't like me dating someone doing money laundry"

"But did he and I give a shit? Fuck no. we did things our way one tip I will give you is never let both of your parents, him and yours, know the details of your highs and lows. Obviously never hide any type of relationship from your family, but don't give them the details of your happy times and your sad times that happen in your relationship. That way my mother in law never knew I was pregnant with my daughter until like the end of my second trimester. And at that point it was too late for her to do anything."

"Moral of the story is fuck his family, but don't be rude to them just keep in mind it's your relationship between you and him not you and him and his family. If he is a good man and he ticks all the boxes then don't let him go. If you feel safe and secure with him and don't feel like you are on your nerves and walking on eggshells all the time in his presence, then keep him. Men like him are rare" Miss Jeon said

"Do you understand?" Miss Jeon asked and I nodded "I'm not gonna lie I'm disappointed that you didn't tell him about the child. He does love you and hiding these types of things is a big no no."

"It's hard to talk about it" I said already feeling slight tightness in my throat

"Even so. It's the truth and he deserves to know it. It is his child as well. He will need to grieve over his child. I even forced my own daughter to tell her shitty ass boyfriend at that time that she is pregnant with his child, even though he didn't deserve it for being an asshole, but at least he knew. It is his child as well" Miss Jeon explained, referring to Doctor Jeon Junghae and her son Kian who Doctor Kai has adopted

"I don't know how well he is gonna take it." I said

"That's not you to worry about, he seems like a good man he will take it well. But your main aim is to let him know that he has lost a child of his own. It will also help you, caring that the burden and guilt of losing your child is not easy, it's hard, telling him and opening about it to a person that you have deep history with and can relate to will help you. Stop worrying about the mother" Miss Jeon said

"I wasn't the one who told her about my pregnancy. It was the doctor who confirmed my pregnancy" I said and disappointment mixed with anger was clear in her eyes

"Are you serious?!" she said "that is a violation of patient privacy."

"Wish I knew that at that time because I would have sued him" I said, but I can't help but still feel resentment towards that doctor. "I always think back and if the doctor didn't tell Miss Choi, and I got the chance to tell Yeonjun first, we would still be together, heck even be married by now and have our second child."
