Chapter 22: Sorrow & Hatred

In Avalon, Gaea's inside her castle. It is rather lonely. Although she does get visitors from time to time. But Gaea cared not for her loneliness. There are a swirl of emotions.

Anger.

Hatred.

Sorrow.

Pain.

Guilt.

Remorse.

And these emotions are projected on the piano that she's playing. Along with a son that she learned. A song that she's currently singing. She then hears a sound. A sound that you hear in some necklaces.

Warm and Embracing like the Sun in the Sky

Will you ever return to me

Hear my voice sing with the tide

My love will never die

Gaea took a short glance at the source of the sound.

A necklace.

A necklace with the shape of a heart.

A tear shed from her eye.

Over waves and deep in the blue

I will give my love to you

For many years we'll wait to go by

My love will never die

Gaea then plays the piano, projecting her emotions by said instrument and the weather in her realm.

Earth may be normal.

But Avalon is a different story.

Come my love be one with the Earth

Rule with me for eternity

Drown all dreams so mercilessly

And leave their fates to me

The clouds cover the sky as it darkens.

And when clouds darken.

There will be these things.

Thunder.

Lightning.

Storms.

Hurricanes.

Typhoons.

A part of the Earth that the Great Mother held dominion over. Like with Fire, Water, Wind, and even the various Underworlds, Hells and even the Heavens.

Play the song you sang long ago

And wherever the storm may blow

You will find the key to our love

We'll never be apart

It made Gaeas' emotions increase as angry tears shed from her eyes.

Wild and strong you can't be contained

Never bound nor ever chained

Wounds we caused will never mend

And you will never end

As she pressed the piano chords for the deeper sounds, as though imitating a drum. As it died down, Gaea then sang in a softer and quieter voice.

Warm and Embracing like the Sun in the Sky

Will you ever return to me

Hear my voice sing with the tide

Our love will never die

The song that Gaeas' had just sung now ends.

She then hears the sound from the heart shaped necklace.

Tears leaked from her eyes as she grabbed it and opened it.

It was a picture.

A picture of her and her deceased mortal husband.

Richard Parker.

Her face expressed longing. As though she still missed Richard Parker to this day.

The reminder of her husbands' death, and their children, are the main reasons as to why she kept going.

And there's another that keeps her going.

Gaea: Hatred.

Question is: Hatred of what?

Gaea: Myself.

Hatred of herself for doing nothing. For all these years since Richards' death, she did nothing.

She brought her children to the people that she trusted so much. Because she thought they're better off without her.

But she realized how wrong she was.

Which is why she became more active in the affairs of mortals than ever before.

She wanted to set things right.

She never expected Peter to forgive her.

That's his decision to make.

And she won't convince him otherwise.

She just wants to understand.

But she won't force him to.

And the only thing that she'll do now is weep and loath herself.

And weep she did.

Covered her face with her hands, she then cried.

Other than the storm outside, there is the sound of the Great Mother's sorrow.
