The drive to Creek Pack felt a bit maddening to Luke. He felt detached and robotic driving. His mind swirled around Rolus, Rolus and Rolus, his mate. It tried to convince him to turn back around because what he thought he could handle, he could not handle. He was still not ready to face Rolus. He was still angry at him. Angry that he rejected him. Angry that he fooled him for all those years. Angry that he believed him when he said he was his mate.

He tried to convince Tamera that Peter's signature would do just fine, but Tamera didn't budge. She pulled the 'you've been neglecting your duties and dumping them on others' card. That's what made Luke cave, allowing Tamera to drag him to Creek Pack so that they could sign the final contract and start the process of building.

Lewis was going to meet up with them at Creek Pack. Tamera had the music on full blast, trying to sing the lyrics, but saying the words wrong. Luke laughed, his nervousness dissipated with each time Tamera sang with her loud and bad singing voice.

Luke had not seen Rolus for a year. He had not had any conversation about the discovery that he was his mate. No one knew. Well, no one on Luke's side. His feelings for Rolus had not changed one bit with the knowledge of being his mate. It was understandable since Luke could not feel the mate bond.

It was still a bit weird to process that Luke found his mate. It was anticlimactic. He was excited to find his mate, anticipation his drug even though it was a slim chance. He dreamt of the moment he found his mate. He even planned that even though he did not feel the mate bond, he would take an initiative to fall in love. That's what he could only offer to his mate - to fall in love. Well, try to fall in love. Now that he knew who his mate was, he was disappointed. He was so disappointed in who his mate was. He was even more disappointed that his mate kept the secret for years. His mate has always been just a Pack away.

Maybe if he felt the mate bond, he would have already forgave Rolus and they would have been together by now. In secret of course. Luke still had a lot of research to do around the Alpha mates thing. Or maybe he could reject Rolus and cut ties forever. It was clear as day that Rolus did not want Luke in every way or form.

Finding out that Rolus was his mate killed the joy of having a mate. It killed it for Luke. Now he had to die every single time he saw Rolus because to be honest, the idea of Rolus being his mate already made it home in his mind. He never prepared himself enough to face Rolus.

Maybe it would be different this time. Maybe he would feel the bond because now he knew who his mate was.

"Alpha, are you okay?" Tamera touched his shoulder.

Luke cleared his throat. "Yeah, yeah. I'm fine."

Tamera's gaze lingered on Luke for a while. "I'm fine." Luke was exasperated.

Tamera rolled her eyes, then focused her attention on her phone. "I'm still waiting to hear about your escapades, you know."

Luke smiled, shaking his head. They were granted access into the Pack. In no time, they pulled up to the Pack House. Lewis' car was already there.

"I think while we're at it, you should thank Alpha Rolus for risking his life for you," Tamera reminded for the umpteenth time. She always hounded Luke to thank Rolus.

"That was not enough," Luke mumbled, following Tamera out the car. Someone came to escort them into the House, leading them to the office where the meeting was taking place.

Luke followed, but his heart was beating like crazy. Tamera heard it, but didn't say anything. They arrived at the office, finding Sierra, Lewis and some other woman Luke assumed to be Creek Pack's lawyer. Lewis stood up to greet Luke and also the other woman as well. Sierra was still the disrespectful mosquito that everyone knew.
