your pov | getting back to the hut before dawn |
sneaking back into the tent was so bad honestly, i don't think the boy even noticed i was gone. i dried myself quickly with a blanket and then laid back down.
turning my back to the boys, trying to fall asleep after what i had just done.
suddenly the fire in the middle of the hut comes alive, i turn around quickly.
neteyam sitting by the entrance, lo'ak sitting up over the fire.
"where did our little angel go?" neteyam jokes.
i giggle, sitting up, fixing my hair.
"it's dangerous, cloud." lo'ak says seriously.
"where did you go?" he is very tense.

"i went out, swimming around." i wave him off.
"it's dangerous and you shouldn't do that, without one of us. or i don't know, cloud. what happened if something happ-"
"nothing did, did it? you guys i'm fine." i snap back.

"you can't be the one with an attitude afterward what shit you just tried to pull over us." he walks closer to me.

it's tense. suddenly i feel like he's hiding behind these words, like he's not saying something more. neteyam stands looking at his brother.
"you act like i'm a helpless little girl." i stand up.
our faces are inches apart, looking into each others raging eyes.
"let's, okay, let's calm down." neteyam squeezes out.

"you don't own me." i whisper.
"i'm not trying to, i'm trying to keep you safe."
whatever.
listen.

i lay back down, staring at the two boys. guilt and embarrassment fill my lungs when i take a deep breath.
turning back around. shutting down.
"can we forget this?"
the fire goes out, the boys climb back into bed.
"whatever you want cloud." lo'ak speaks.

lo'aks pov |
i roll over to face cloud. i love seeing her dream. but she's not there. jumping up i grab neteyams shoulders, panicked.
"cloud- cloud isn't here!" i whisper yell.
"is she swimming around?" neteyam lazily says.
i walk outside of our tent, seeing her softly swimming. my heart slowing back down.
what if she went back? what if she left?

rage fills my body, my soul.
"let's prank her." neteyam notices my balled up fists.

"where did our little angel go?" neteyam jokes.
don't call her that.
as i light the fire, i stand looking at her guilt ridden eyes. her mouth trying to formulate a lie.

she has an attitude? SHE is the one with an attitude??

rage is blinding me

listen to me cloud, i'm trying to help.

"you don't own me."
fuck you. in this moment i want to tell her how she makes me feel, how happy she makes me. how i thought that all disappeared for a second.
she wouldn't care.

"can we forget this"
"whatever you want, cloud."
i say as i crinkle my face to not let the tears slip out. this is such bullshit.
patience
