T(H)RUST - Ghost x Reader

Chapter 15

While you eat, the woman takes the seat cushions off the couch that's placed against a wall. She brings out blankets and pillows and turns the couch into a bed. When you are done eating she shows you to the couch and you thank her for her hospitality. She has placed two piles of clean clothes on it, and after you and Ghost put those on, she takes your dirty clothes and walks away with them.

You and Ghost cuddle up on the couch, there is not a lot of space, but you manage to make it work. He is laying on his back, and you are on your side, squeezed between him and the back of the couch, allowing you to fold your leg and arm over him. The little black cat hops up on the bed and makes itself comfortable on Ghost's stomach, it's grown pretty fond of him it seems.

When you open your eyes, you see the black cat on Ghost's chest. He is petting it on the head and it seems pleased, purring loudly.

"Slept well?" Ghost asks, stroking your side with the arm he has wrapped around you. You nod as a reply before moving your hand to the cat, also trying to pet it. It doesn't seem to be very happy about you touching it, so you stop.

The old woman comes out into the combined kitchen and living room. Her dark gray hair is put up in a very small bun at the nape of her neck.

"Buenos días." you say.

"Buenos días." she answers before walking to the kitchenette and starting to prepare breakfast. Whatever she is making smells lovely. You and Ghost get up from the couch, wanting to help her as a way to show how grateful you are that she let you stay the night. While he puts back the couch to its original state, you look for plates and cutlery to set the table with. When you are done, you put on your clothes from yesterday that the lady washed and dried.

After finishing breakfast, the lady, who introduced herself as Carmen, gives you a plastic bag. In it, there are some sandwiches and two bottles of water. She also hands over a map to you, she points to a house surrounded by a red line.

"Mi casa." Carmen says.

Both you and Ghost give her a hug each, then you thank her again for her kindness, before walking out the door.

According to the map, the closest town wouldn't be too far away. The sun is shining and it's warm, with a slight breeze rattling the leaves of the corn on the field. As you walk along the road, you hear a meow behind you. Both you and Ghost turn around and you see the little black cat. It walks up to Ghost and strokes its body against his legs. He crouches down and pets it on the head. One of the cat's ears is missing the tip, probably from being in a fight.

"Now you have to go home buddy." he says, pointing back in the direction of the house. But the cat simply sniffs at his finger. Ghost looks up at you.

"We should go back with him." Ghost says as he lifts the cat up, cradling it like a baby in his arms. You nod, then you start walking back to Carmen's house. The cat is purring happily when it's in Ghost's arms, and you are a little jealous of the attention it's getting.

You knock on the door and Carmen opens it, looking surprised to see you two again. Ghost holds the cat forward, as to hand it over, while you speak.

"El gato."

Carmen puts one hand over her chest, and the other one out in front of her, so as to decline an offer.

"For you." she says, with her cute Spanish accent, while looking at Ghost. You turn to Ghost, his eyes are wide open, like a kid opening the Christmas gift he had wished for the most. He pulls the cat close to his chest, and it meows.

"Gracias." he says over and over.

Ghost carries the cat in his arms as you walk. Eventually, it falls asleep, drooling slightly. The road is empty, and you don't meet a single person for around four hours. But just as you get to a crossing, in which you have to turn right, a car drives past you. You wave after them to try and get their attention. Being able to sit in a car would be lovely, your feet are killing you. But the car doesn't notice and keeps driving. You sigh.
