"But look at this! Here you are, sitting right in front of me, on a chair, and I'm not dead." the man continues, laughing in a mocking manner. "Now, let's see if you can tell me where my brother went."

Who is he talking about? The only thing that comes to your mind is that he is talking about Rubio. You thought he had gone to jail, that's what Alejandro had said would happen during the planning, but you weren't there when they captured him, so you really have no idea. Ghost doesn't answer the question.

"I know you know." the brother says. There is still no response from Ghost.

"Fucking answer me! Is this bloody Halloween costume making you think you are tough?" he shouts. Something flies over your shoulder and you twitch. You look at it as it slides on the floor, it's some black cloth-like thing, with white markings. It's Ghost's mask. You feel shocked. You don't expect the cartels to be very respectful, but pulling off his masks almost feels illegal. But when you think about it, they don't seem to care for laws anyways.

"Now let us try again. Where is my brother?"

Ghost still doesn't respond.

"Do you know who the fuck I am?" The man sounds frustrated.

"A son of a bitch." Ghost says, very slowly, enunciating every word with purpose. You hear a slap and you flinch at the sound of it. Then you hear footsteps and the door to the room opening. The men walk out and the door closes behind them, then you hear the click of the lock.

You feel Ghost placing his hands around yours, squeezing them.

"Are you okay?"

"Considering the situation, yes." you say, feeling an immense sense of relief that the men have left.

"I'm so sorry y/n." He only uses your first name when he is apologizing, just like after the incident at the field, when he was sitting outside your room. "I fucked up." Your heart aches, hearing his voice sound so defeated.

"It's okay." you say, not wanting him to blame himself for the situation. You are definitely not happy about being here, and you would really like to get out of here, but it is nice to have him with you instead of being alone.

You sit in silence for a while. The thoughts of what will happen to you make their way back into your head, especially after the man used violence, and you feel yourself starting to stress out again. Your breathing feels strained and that only makes you worry even more.

"Remember, breathe in.. and out." Ghost starts slowly stroking the back of your hand again. You try to follow his instructions, and it does get easier to breathe.

"Thank you." you say when you feel the pressure lighten across your chest.

"Are you prone to panic attacks?"

"I don't think I've ever had one."

"They start like that. It's good to know how to prevent them." Ghost says. Why does he know about panic attacks?

"Do you get them?"

"Not as much anymore." You can hear him breathe out heavily and you think back to when he told you about his dad. Growing up like that must have left some scars you think as you look at the mask on the floor, it being proof of it.

Having no way to tell the time, you don't know how much time has passed since you first encountered these people. You feel your stomach rumble, signaling it has been quite a while since you were back at the base. You smack your lips together, they are getting pretty dry. Then you hear the door unlock and open, and you feel your body tense up.

"Ready to talk yet?" the brother says. And Ghost again doesn't respond to him. You hear the blade of a pocket knife spring out.

"Want to tell me something now?"

There is still no response from Ghost.

"How about this 'wife' of yours?" The tone of his voice indicates he thinks Ghost's on-the-spot lie is pathetic. You hear footsteps and he comes over to your side of the room, making his way to you until he is standing right in front of your face. He looks similar to Gabriel Rubio, just a little slimmer and with a larger beard, but it's definitely his brother. You see the knife he is holding in his hand.

"She doesn't know anything about it, leave her alone." Ghost says. Now Rubio is the one to ignore Ghost.

"Where is it?" Rubio asks you, staring straight into your eyes. You have no idea what he is talking about.

"Where's what?"

"The facility that you took my brother to." He moves the knife to your throat, and you try to tilt your head away from it. You feel your pulse increasing.

"I don't know. I thought he went to jail."

"That's a lie." he says, moving the knife closer to your throat. Now the blade is touching your skin. You can feel your heart beating in your throat and you are scared he might accidentally cut you because of how hard it's beating. "Now tell me what you know before it's too late."

"She doesn't know for fucks sake, she wasn't there!" Ghost shouts behind you. His voice is angry and the raspiness of it makes it sound like a growl.

"You shut up or I'll put this bullet through your head!" Rubio reaches for his back pocket and pulls out a gun, he aims it at the roof and pulls the trigger. The loud bang makes you jump and you feel a searing pain on the side of your neck, making you yelp out in pain, then something slowly dripping down your neck. Fuck. The knife cut you. The blood luckily isn't gushing out, and that's good. It's only a surface-level cut, but the whole incident makes your hands shake.

"The fuck did you do to her?!"

"Ghost, I'm fine, just a small cut on my neck." you say. You place your hand on his, squeezing it in an attempt to calm him down.

"You are a dead man Mateo. The second I get out of here you are done for." Ghost says, it sounds like he is speaking with his teeth together, making a hissing sound. Rubio laughs, almost maniacally.

"You won't get out of here, not alive."

Rubio walks away from you and you soon hear the door open and close, then being locked.

"I'll get you out of here, I promise you that." he says in a serious tone, letting his thumb stroke the back of your hand. "And I never break a promise."
