You turn around towards the cascade behind you. Not being able to spot Keegan, you consider screaming for him but the fear of the enemies figuring out your location forces you to stay quiet. You turn on your comms.
"Keegan, I can't see you, can you see me?" You wait for an answer, but there isn't one. You repeat yourself.
"Keegan, do you copy?" Still no response. Why isn't he answering? He saw you fall. You decide to try your luck with Price instead.
"Captain, I've fallen down a cliff, I'm not badly hurt but I don't know how to get up. Keegan won't answer me." He doesn't answer either. You start to grow frustrated. Is the radio on the wrong frequency? You take off your radio from your shoulder to examine it. The antenna is broken, it probably snapped off during your fall. Fuck. Once again you look up at the cliff, still not being able to see Keegan. It's probably best to stay put. Keegan knows where you fell and he will bring the others to rescue you.
You find a large tree to sit against, giving you protection from behind if anyone saw you fall, wanting to attack while you are off your feet. You lean against the trunk of the tree, looking up at the naked tree tops. It has been quiet for a while. You are cold and you start to feel tired, having been out in the cold for at least four hours and awake since early morning. Once in a while you look at your clock. Each time you do you have to look at it for longer and longer, the numbers making less sense each time. You yawn and your eyes grow heavy, making it hard to keep them open. You haven't heard or seen anything suspicious, so it should be okay with a short nap. After that you will think of a way to get up the cliff and to find the others. You scootch down a bit, now in a laying position, putting your backpack behind your head as support. Then it gets dark.
---
As soon as y/n fell down the cliff, Keegan turned on his comms.
"L/n, are you okay?" But there is no answer.
"L/n, do you copy?" He leans over the edge of the cliff, but he can't see her. The second cliff is shielding his view. He feels his heart starting to beat. He feels urged to scream out for her, but the looming threat of the enemy makes him rethink. He needs to let Price know.
"Captain. L/n fell down a cliff, she isn't responding." His mouth feels dry and there are many thoughts in his head. Is she hurt? Why isn't she answering?
"Get back to the building Sergeant, we can search for her more easily when we have gotten rid of these fuckers."
Keegan makes his way back to the building. As he gets closer he can hear the gunfire start up again, the rest of the team trying to kill every last man there. He rounds a tree and sees the back of a man, not in task force 141 gear. Keegan aims for the head and shoots a shot straight through, the man falls down, twitching slightly.
It takes a while but finally Price confirms everyone on site is killed, without any major injuries to your own. Everyone meets in the middle of the gravel patch at the front of the building.
"We need to get back to l/n quickly." Keegan says. "She fell about an hour ago and I haven't heard a word from her, I don't know if she is conscious or not." Everyone in the group looks stressed and worried. But Ghost looks almost panic-stricken.
"Take us there." Price says. Ghost takes the lead, walking way ahead of everyone else, having Keegan tell him where to go. They start to walk back the same way he and y/n did an hour ago. As the team gets closer to the place of the accident they start to call out for y/n, it now being safe to do so for the first time. When they eventually stand right at the edge of the cliff, Keegan points to where she fell.
