Via Ferata

Nat's POV:

Once we get inside, there's a young athletic man meeting us next to a decorative fireplace. The place seems smaller inside than out, but there are 2 other doors, the first one's probably the restroom and the second leads to a room almost as big as the one we're in, I suppose.

"Hello! Are you the 7 o'clock reservation?" He asks standing up

"Yes" Y/N answers for us "Are we too early?" She shyly adds, since it is indeed closer to 6:45 than 7

"No! It's perfectly fine, since you're going without any group or guide, it's only giving you girls more time to prepare and dress" The guy kindly reassures joining his hands during his speech

"Dress?" I ask still left in the dark on what we're about to do. I want to know!

"Well the harness, helmet, basically everything necessary for your climbing" He casually explains. Climbing!?

I turn to the one who brought me here completely confused " I think it's time you tell me what we're doing here" I command

"Yes" She chuckles rubbing the back of her head "Well we're doing Via Ferata... surprise!" She reveals. What is that? I'm just more confused

"What's Via Ferata?" I voice my thoughts

She looks at me like she has no idea how to explain the activity "Well, it's like- you- There's a giant rock or more like a cliff and you... I don't know" She abandons cutely

After a few second of silence we both turn at the same time towards the only man in the room, like asking for help. " Via Ferata is basically climbing the side of a cliff, that has been adapted with human infrastructures to make the tracks easier or harder. All of it with a magnificent view, even more since your partner chose the nighttime track where lanterns illuminate the whole activity along from the afar city light of New York." He kindly and clearly explains.

This seems amazing, I feel like it's going to be the perfect mix between calm and sports "D-Do you like it?"  Y/N stutters

"If I like it? It's fantastic!" I exclaim hugging her, I knew she was stressed about my reaction. How could she think I wouldn't appreciate such a good idea along with such kind and great intentions

After this small interaction the receptionist helped us put the harness, gloves and helmet on, along with the little powder bag. He also gave us a short security lesson so we could go on our own, even though Y/N has somehow enough experience in climbing to take care of herself and carry me without any instructor.

We then were on our way to the 'orange track' it wasn't the longest nor the hardest, but the guy we spoke to told us it was the prettiest to most staff's opinion

"I thought we were suppose to have equal chances of winning"  I say walking next to the woman I like

"And we are" She answers not getting my point

"Well you obviously already did Via Ferata in your life to be able to babysit me doing it" I argue

"Exactly, I got old skills from 6 years ago that are barely enough to keep us alive and you got the stamina and big muscles" She explains playfully squeezing my biceps and running away deeper in the forest, towards our part of the cliff.

"'Old skills from 6 years ago that are barely enough to keep us alive' very reassuring Anderson" I repeat to myself jogging after her, but after a turn left I see her frozen a few feet away "You okay, darling?" I ask making the few missing steps for us to be side to side. Those few steps are what show me why my girlfriend's frozen there. "Woah.." I can't help but slip to the view that's in front of me
