Battle

Y/N's POV:

"Sadly you are" I answer almost apologetically. They can't know who I am, she can't know, if it were to happen... first S.H.I.E.L.D. would be on my ass forever and they might come back? what if they came back? Nobody can know that I'm the one with these powers

"Right" Nat says rolling her eyes "who are you then?"

"Someone with abilities and wants to help."

"And why do you wear a mask?" Cap asks before kicking the first of a wave of incoming

"If anybody sees me, Tv or else. I won't have a job anymore." I improvise.

More aliens make their way to us, so we silently agree to stop talking and focus on the fight for a while. I don't know if they're satisfied with my answers, but Cap seems content with it, more than Nat at least.

The fight quickly cools down and it's now possible to talk and fight at the same time. Well Nat visibly judged so, I'm just trying to keep up "So, how'd you learn to fight like this?"

would she believe me if I told her: 'I think an organization trained me as a kid?' Nah "In...army" I answer fairly quick As I stab an enemy

"Y/N, you're too young to have learned so much about army training in a so short amount of time" She explains in a neutral tone even though there's the shadow of a smirk on her lips

"Good thing I'm not her" I insist

"Fine, how old are you then?" She asks while casually shooting one of those thing in the head, barely looking

"We're in 2012? So.." I start giving myself time to think of something believable "35"

Her only reaction is to laugh " Anderson, when you lie, make it so people can at least think you're telling the truth" She says emphasizing the 'think'. She'll never believe me without a solid proof, quite hard to get when the other's actually right...

"What about you? Do you have any powers, like the others?" I change the subject, making sure it doesn't get worse for me

"No, but don't think I can't beat their ass any less because of it" She warns handling 3 aliens at the time. I know, I'm suppose to focus on my fight, but damn she's hot!

"I'm sorry ladies, but we don't have time for little talks" Cap cuts our discussion, throwing his shield between the both of us, killing aliens

"It's important Rogers" Natasha argues sending him a glare that would've killed me on the spot, making him shut up. "Do you have powers" She then asks towards me, with a calmer voice

I sigh, should I tell them? I mean the point of hiding my identity is to give me the opportunity to tell them without going back in all that mystery shit, isn't it? "I do" i reveal for the first time of my life "I can feel and control other's emotions"

"So... you could control these aliens?" Cap asks suddenly getting interested in our conversation while jumping on a taxi to fight a bigger amount of them

"I tried, they don't have any emotions. It's like they're programmed to do something and nothing else can interfere" I explain what I found out earlier, fighting on my own

"Great" Nat mumbles grumpily as we continue fighting

Soon enough, Cap is dragged away from us and  4 of these aliens charges both Nat and I simultaneously on the same front. We roughly end up against a car and she quickly dazes 2 of them with her wrist tasers while I push one of mine and snap the other's neck -which surprisingly didn't kill it- She finishes her part of the job taking their weapons from them and shooting them both as I get mines in a line jumping in the air joining my 2 feet in a single kick getting trough their alien bodies.

Just after that we hear noise behind us and turn around in a fighting stance, only to see the Captain jogging towards us. We both let our guard down a bit, giving the 3 of us a break to catch our breath before the next wave

"Can someone explain to me... why I couldn't snap it's neck to kill it, but a kick... oh it's totally fine" I jokingly ask them still trying to stand my breathing

They offer me a small smile before returning to the main issue. "Captain, none of this is going to mean a damn thing If we don't close that portal" Nat says, basically urging a solution

"Our biggest guns couldn't touch it" he replied

"Well, maybe it's not about guns" She hypothesis smirking lightly, clearly going to handle this herself

"If you wanna get up there you're gonna need a ride" Cap says

"I don't know where we're going, but I got the ride" I comment pointing to the mini-ship flying above us

They both look up "smart..." She mumbles making my heart swell with pride "I could use a boost though"She says making them position themselves to throw them like a cheerleader

"Are you sure about this?" Cap asks looking really uncertain

"Yeah... it's gonna be fun!" She sarcastically says starting to run towards the nearby car, jumping on it, then on cap's shield. Getting the intended boost, she lands on one of those weird video game ship, disappearing of our eye sight

"Alright, my turn!" I say walking to where Natasha previously was

"What? No!" Cap exclaims putting is shield down and quickly back up when the new troops of aliens come our way

"C'mon, she's alone in the freaking sky!" I point out worried

"And I'll be alone on the ground with a bunch of these, if you leave" He argues pointing to an enemy he just killed "Plus, Barton got an eye on her, right?" He reassures me, making sure Barton checks in her at the same time "Heard that?" The guy says a few seconds after

"Nope!" I answer indicating I have no comms while killing an alien

"Oh! My bad, he said ' I'll never let her down, Cap'"  The guy in front of me repeats probably imitating Clint

I sigh letting go, he's right she'll probably handle herself just fine. So I start fighting along his side, passing the shield to one another to kill these things, sometimes Thor and Iron Man landing to give a hand

At this point of the fight, Cap and I were both on opposite location of the field but still close enough to see each other. As I kill a few monsters, I see a red thing crashing close by, Cap obviously didn't see it, since he has no reaction. I hesitate to go see what I presume to be Tony, afraid to leave my partner alone, but when Thor joins him, I don't waste anymore time and run to Stark.

Once I'm at the location, I see the suit getting overwhelmed by at least a dozen ennemies. I look around finding a sharp object in the rubbles, -cap being the one to have his shield at the moment- running towards the man in difficulty. He takes 2 of them giving me the chance to enter the circle of aliens, starting by taking out 2, piercing them with my feet, like I did with Nat and a third one dies by the mini-pole I found seconds ago. I fall to the ground with the villains I just killed, having nothing to hold onto and luckily another one dies getting the other end of my weapon as I stand up and take it off his dead mate.

I turn around throwing my staff on the only remaining enemy who was ready to attack Stark from behind as he dealt with all the others. Once the weapon passed close to him, he turned around seeing it in an alien body and looked back at me. "Guessed you needed a hand" He simply nodded in appreciation

After a few seconds of silence "Get to Cap! And don't let Romanoff close that portal just now!" He says leaving me alone as he flies away. I couldn't hear his voice properly or see his face because of the suit, but one thing is sure, I could feel him terrified.
