Kaycee did so unbelievably well and I'd never been prouder of her but it was a bittersweet feeling. Obviously I'd prepared myself for this moment but I couldn't deny it was incredibly hard to watch her give birth to someone else's baby, I couldn't help but wish that it had been a different outcome and Luna was mine. I stood outside the room and watched Kaycee through the glass for a moment I was lost in thought when Toto came to stand next to me, we'd flown here together as soon as Susie let us know what was happening. "She's very lucky to have you Max" he said sternly, I was taken back by it i'd really never imagined those words coming out of his mouth. Yes we'd been getting on well the past few months mainly for Kaycee's sake but I still always gathered he wasn't particularly my greatest fan. We stood there in silence for a moment before he sighed "You know this isn't going to be simple, Charles could still change his mind at any point" he said as he turned to look at me. It was something I'd thought about a lot over the past few months, and it was something I was prepared for but selfishly I hoped it wouldn't happen.
When Toto and Susie left the hospital I stayed by Kaycee's side with her and Luna. It wasn't long before they were both asleep. I couldn't help but sit there and watch Kaycee as she slept and I really was in complete awe of her. The woman I was still madly in love with after all this time and after everything that had happened between us. Luna started stirred next to her, I knew how tired Kaycee must of been so I picked Luna up and cradled her in the hopes I'd be able to keep her from waking Kaycee up. As I sat there with Luna in my arms it gave me time to fully think about what this all meant and if I was ready to go down this probably very complicated road. "You don't have to do this Max" Kaycee said as she slowly sat herself up in the bed I didn't know how long she'd been awake for or how long she'd been watching me sit there with Luna. Straight away I knew what she meant without her having to say the words and it was then that I knew that I wasn't going any where. Yes of course it wasn't going to be simple or easy but I loved her and she was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with that meant Luna was included in that. "as long as you want me here I'm not going anywhere" I replied smiling at her and I really meant every single word.
