Ever since ancient times, the Crystal of Light was created in the mountains far beyond the Hidden Yokai World. The Yokai folk have heard legends of the crystal and it was said that it was the most powerful object in the world. The Crystal of Light is a giant white crystal that can only be summoned by a special songstress like the Moon child and the yokai who has the ability to sing. The humans and Yokai have the crystal in their village Edo Japan, since it brings hope and trust to the world.
But things have changed. The alien race known as the Krang landed here and wreaked havoc around the world along with a monstrous being known as the Shredder created when the man who was foolish wore the Dark Armor. They stole the Crystal of Light into their dimension until the five mystic warriors came and banished the Krang with a Mystic Key. Without the Crystal of Light on Earth, the humans banished the yokai underground with a magic spell.
No one will ever find the Crystal of Light because ever since the Yokai still believed in the crystal, they started to write its origin. Everyone was still concerned about what might happen to the crystal if they fell into the wrong hands.
From the prison dimension, the Krang obtained the Crystal and set it to rot. It lasted several years until it turned. It started to lose its bright white glow and it turned purple with a dull shine. The Krang began to call it the Crystal of Darkness. Unlike the Crystal of Light, this dark crystal brings pain, misery and rage to the dimension. The Krang have a goal: Find a songstress, steal the orbs from the Goddess, Pilo, use a familiar singing song and open the portal to the invasion. That way, the aliens will have a dimension home for them and the Druun so the world will be destroyed. The victim which the Crystal of Darkness restrains them will be possessed completely.
Not all the light has disappeared. Before the Crystal of Light was taken, the humans chipped a small crystal shard and put it somewhere in the ocean, hoping that someone will find it and use it. No one ever found the little crystal as it flowed endlessly into the ocean until it stopped at the sewer. The crystal shard was left for five hundred years until one day, a strange being found it. Finding it special, she received it and made it into a necklace. She still didn't know that the Crystal shard was part of the Crystal of Light and she will have to save the crystal in order to bring its light back.
When the Crystal of Light is restored in the present, the crystal broke into eight pieces and released their captive, a songstress fairy named Meloetta. A 25 year old man named Casey Jones found the Crystals. Each Crystal has a unique color that was created: White, blue, black, red, lilac, purple, orange, and green. The Turtles have gained their own crystal necklaces now the Crystal of Lights gems.
