Lines between fine

I don't say it out loud, I only smile as I sign -I think you're the only one who thinks that-

He frowns but I change the subject not wanting to draw anymore attention to us than we already have "Lev we should get going" I turn to her seeing her nod in agreement.

"Wait you're leaving?" Will says tensing up "you can't leave, what if they come for you guys next? I mean we don't even know who they are"

"Actual we do" Bane steps forward walking to one of the cars parked next to us, he reaches inside pulling out a single worn out jacket "look familiar?" he turns it for all of us to see better and the golden logo sticks out like the sun, clearer than anything else.

"But you just had a meeting with him why would he send men after you?" Levi asks stepping forward, everyone else stops what they're doing as their attention perks higher but mine don't, mainly because I already know the answers.

"Because of us" I say "he most likely saw us and thought we were here to get him"

"So what, now he's just going to kill us all, plus Mia and me were careful"

"Not careful enough apparently and no, we're going to fix it"

Levi turns towards me "and how are we going to do that?" 

"Well not you, more like me, I'm going to talk to him"

Her face lights up with a followed laugh right after. Will folds his arms tightly across his chest looking down and Ray just gets stuck in his head thinking about what I just said, he unlike the rest of them actually use their brains and not their emotions. Bane on the other hand is giving me nothing to work with, I have no idea what he's thinking.

"So let me get this straight, you want to talk to the man who just got into town and already owns more than those who've been here for centuries?"

"Yes"

"And what makes you think he'll listen"

"Oh he'll listen"

"Well then I'm coming with you"

"No you're not" I say confused by the part where I already thought I made clear. Levi has never really been one to take no for an answer but this time she's just going to have to learn.

"Mia-"

"She won't be alone" Will interrupts "I'll be there-" Ray steps closer to Will hitting his shoulder "correction, we'll be there"

I nod a thank you to them before looking back at Levi who's still not convinced in the fucking slightest.

"No" she simply says "but" her head tilts towards Bane "if he comes then I'll let this go" I instantly let out a scoff but she just continues not even letting me say anything about it "that's the only way I won't come, if I know you're in good hands I won't worry as m-"

"Well then you're really going at it in a wrong way I'll tell you that much"

She shoots me a glare for interrupting and continues talking "Will and Ray amazing but I need to feel 100% about this" her eyes drift to Bane making me also follow "and the only way I'd feel 100% is if he goes with you"

"No-"

"Yes" Bane says.

Why can't no one let me speak all of a sudden.

"Levi" I warn, the anger in my tone doesn't go unmissed, the buttons she's pressing right now are way too big and red.

"Mia I know you can handle yourself, I've known you for years now and this isn't to annoy you but you need back up and if you won't let me help then at least take him, plus" she stops, pulling her hands together as she fidgets with her rings "you forget I watched you two fight before, you know each other better than breathing, please Mia, work with me here"

I won't stand here and say what she just said didn't hurt me, because it sure as hell did. It isn't because she's making me team up with Satan himself but because she brought up the past. I know Levi doesn't exactly have the best filters but this is low, even for her, my stomach feels like it's been set ablaze with the way the memories weigh inside me. She notices the error she's made and before she can say anything I beat her to it

I walk over to Ray and bend down tearing some old piece of newspaper up before pulling out a pen in my trousers pocket. I set the paper on his arm writing down my number, I feel all eyes on me including his as I do. I don't want to work with him but I created this mess and so I have to fix this one way or another.

"Text me when you find out where he is" I hand it to him and he takes it reading over it just to check if I actually wrote anything down. He looks back up at me with surprise when he finds that there is in fact a number written down.

-But how am I meant to find him?- he asks furrowing his eyebrows in confusion.

I give him a look telling him I wasn't really talking to him, he turns around to Bane then back at me nodding in understandment.

I walk away and past Levi not bothering to wait. She knew that talking about him was fine, making dumb jokes was also more than fine but talking about my past especially when it came to having him in it was anything further from fucking fine and she crossed that line.
