Central High School
San Jose, CA (FLASHBACK)
I finished my leap and landed on the floor, gracefully ending my performance.
"ADA, ADA, ADA" The crowd erupted into cheers on admiration.
I stood up straight, curtsied and exited the stage.
"Oh dear, that was amazing!" My dance teacher, Ms. Helga runs up to me and hugs me.
"Thank you, Ms. Helga r" I smiled brightly as she held my face in between her wrinkled hands.
"There is someone who wants to speak to you" She says wiggling her eyebrows.
"Who?" I ask, confused.
"A recruiter from JUILLIARD!" She squeals.
"Wait what?"
"Yes, yes now come on" She rushes, pulling me towards my dressing room.
When I walk in there's a lady sitting in the corner of the room.
"Hi, Ada my name is Robin Medlin, I'm a recruiter from Juilliard" She starts.
I nod, taking off my head piece as she continues.
"Are you interested in having a future in ballet?" She asks.
"Yes of course" I immediately say without a doubt in my mind.
She smiles lightly.
"Alright well then, if you apply, you'll have a guaranteed spot next year."
"OMG really, like are you playing with me!" I slightly yell at the lady.
"No, I'm not kidding, the spot is really yours. Ada you are an amazing dancer and I feel you'd make a great addition to our school, that is if you want it" She stands up and walks towards me.
"YES, I WANT IT!!" I yell as I jump up and down and lean into hug her.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry" I say, fixing her clothes.
"It's fine, give me a call when you are ready to apply" She giggles then hands me her business card and leaves.
"Oh yea, get it, get it" I danced as I popped my back in the mirror.
"YESSSS!" I yelled.
Juilliard was my dream.
It was where I belonged. Where I knew I belonged.
I just wished everyone knew that.
