chapter 65

"congratulations Emilia you are coming with me today" Damon said harshly as he walked into the dining room for breakfast.

"Damon don't speak to her like that" Alesandro said not liking his sons tone.

Last night Damon had filled him in on the situation, he didn't agree with how Damon went about it but agreed that she should be grounded.

He wanted them to get back to how they were so hopefully they could today.

"Why can't I just stay home alone" Emilia asked.

"Because at home you can do what you want with no one in, you will be coming with me, dad and mason are busy"

She didn't dare question him and so she went with him that morning.

As they walked up to the building several people appeared. Damons automatic reaction was to grab Emilia's hand and make sure she was with him.

The people kept asking questions and taking pictures which annoyed Damon. He had told them a month ago what would happen, he had had strong threatening words too. He would just have show them specifically, he would do that later though when he wasn't with Emilia.

They entered his building. He really needed new guards at this rate.

He looked over at Emilia to check if she was okay. She seemed okay.

"Your hand" she whispered looking at how he still had hold of hers.
He quickly released it "I didn't hurt you did I" he asked.

She shook her head.

He nodded "let's get to my office"

The office was boring, Damon left after making sure the room was secure

Emilia didn't have anything to do, she eventually picked up a book. It wasn't that interesting because it was about business law.
But at least she learnt something.

Damon entered the office around 1pm, he was annoyed so he initially gave Emilia silent treatment. After a while he glanced over and saw she was reading.

"Have you eaten yet Emilia" he asked.

She looked up at him confused slightly. She didn't know she was allowed to eat.

She shook her head and for a second his cold expression turned to annoyance but it dissapeared a second later.

"Okay, come with me" he said standing up.

She followed him out to the kitchen across the hallway. He silently began making her lunch, he soon handed her a toasted sandwich, a bag of crisps and a glass of water. He didn't say anything else, he simply walked out leaving her to eat.

She knew she could try talking to him and then maybe they would reach an understanding, maybe he wouldn't be so cold with her but she didn't dare talk to him like this.  She was terrified of making him angry.

She had joked with him numerous times, telling him he wasn't good at anything but stalking but his anger showed her how wrong she was.

Would he always be this cold with her? Was this the new normal?

Was this actually normal? Had she expected to much? She had no idea what a family wasn't meant to be like so maybe this was it.

Was Brittney right? Was Alesandro keeping her around out of pity? She was clearly right about Damon, Damon didn't want her around anymore.

The day past even slower after that, Damon left again for more meetings, and she went back to trying to read, her focus was on her thoughts though. She felt as if no one wanted her around and everything was done out of pity
Damon eventually returned and began putting his stuff away "put that book away now, we are heading home" he told her.
