What is Vasu baras?

Vasu Baras also known as Govatsa Dwadashi is a Hindu cultural and religious festival which marks the beginning of Diwali celebrations especially in the Indian state of Maharashtra, where it is known as Vasu Baras. In Gujarat, it is celebrated as Vagh Baras and as Sripada Vallabha Aradhana Utsav of Sripada Sri Vallabha, at Pithapuram Datta Mahasamsthan in the state of Andhra Pradesh. In some northern states, Govatsa Dwadashi is referred to as, Vagh, which implies repaying one's financial debts, which therefore is a day, when businessmen clear their accounts books and do not make further transactions in their new ledgers

It is a thanksgiving festival to the cows for their help in sustaining human life and thus both cows and calves are worshiped and fed with wheat products. The worshipers abstain from consuming any wheat and milk products on this day. It is believed that by these observances and worship, all wishes of the devotees will be fulfilled.

Amit was awake and Purvi was asleep. Amit was getting bored so he decided to wake her up.

"Purvi" Amit jumped on bed and cuddled with her. She didn't even move.

"Purvi" Amit rubbed his palm on her arm "Utho"

"What is it?" She asked in sleepy voice.

"Aaj se Diwali shuru ho rahi hai" Amit said in excitement.

"Aaj ka din itna happening nahi hota. Main nahi manti aaj diwali hai" Purvi said "Kal dhanteras hai tabse diwali shuru hogi"

"Tumhare manane ya na manane se kuch nahi hoga" Amit said "Diwali ke pancho din tum jaldi uthne wali ho and that's it. Are lakshmi maa sakshat ghum rahi hoti hai aas pas Diwali ke waqt.. Hame jaroorat hai unke aashirwad ki"

"Main Sumedh nahi hoo. Mere samne jhoot mat bolo tum" Purvi said.

"Phir bhi utho warna main tumko physically utha dunga" Amit said.

Purvi removed quilt from her face and looked at him.

"Kya karoge?" She asked.

"Maine kaha main physically tumhe uthaunga.. In literal meaning" Amit said.

"Fine. Tum agar uthake mujhe bathroom tak le jane wale ho toh main uth jaungi.. Farsh bahot thandi hai mujhse pair nahi niche rakhe jate" Purvi demanded.

"Toh chappal pehen lo na" Amit suggested

Purvi made a poker face and again went inside the blanket.

"Nahi nahi nahi" Amit said "Main uthake le chalta hoo aapko rani sarkar.. Agar aap chahe toh aapko nehla bhi deta hoo"

Purvi laughed "Okay" She agreed.

Amit stood up and then picked her up. She giggled.

"Jao brush karo tab tak main aata hoo" Amit said.

"Kaha ja rahe ho tum?" Purvi asked.

"Morning plus bathroom sex ki tayyari karne" Amit winked.

Purvi smiled mischievously "Fine. I am waiting"

Sumedh came downstairs and saw Aaradhya. She was humming some song and was looking happy.

"Good Morning Vahinisaheb" Sumedh said "You look happy today"

Aaradhya smiled looking at him "I am happy.. Saheb talked to me last night and it seems like soon we'll get over our problems"

Sumedh was genuinely happy after listening this. He smiled back and said "Happy for you"
