Stiles was not one to talk to anyone about his problems, sure he would listen to everyone else around him but he was not the type of person to do the same, no one had to worry about if he was okay or not, the way he dealt with his problems was by walking around in the woods at night where he could overthink everything he had been worrying about. Tonight it was because he and Scott had gotten into an argument because of Theo telling Scott about Donovan, Stiles knew he should have explained the situation better than he did but he knew he couldn't go back in time and change it and he knew Scott would not be willing to talk to him any time soon so he was stuck wandering the woods thinking of all the things he should have done the night of what happened to Donovan and with his argument with Scott, he felt numb but he knew he would get through it, or at least he hoped,

"Stiles?" Stiles was suddenly frozen due to the very familiar voice he was hearing, "What are you doing out here?" Stiles turned and saw Derek standing in the shadows, Stiles began to scratch the back of his head,

"Uh, Nothing,' Stiles shrugged, "Just enjoying the night, No biggie," Stiles gave a light smile, Derek walked closer and Stiles could see him staring at him in confusion,

"Just enjoying the night?" Derek questioned, "What if there were rogue werewolves out here? Do you want a repeat of what happened to Scott?" Derek asked with a tone full of worry,

"I know how to defend myself," Stiles rolled his eyes, "You have nothing to worry about, I could ask you what you are doing out here but I know your answer will be that you are protecting the town, which is very noble of you," Stiles said as he looked down at the dirt underneath him as he continued to walk down a path,

"You are not going to change the subject by complimenting what I'm doing," Stiles knew he was rolling his eyes even if he couldn't see him properly due to the darkness surrounding them, "What is going on?" Derek asked,

"Nothing is going on," Stiles shook his head, "Why does there have to be something going on for me to be out here?" Stiles wondered, He knew he could only fool Derek for so long before Derek had him spilling his guts,

"Stiles, Tell me the truth, I could sense the worry and despair in your scent before I said anything," Derek explained and Stiles huffed, "You can try and hide it but I know there is something going on,"

"Damn you and your werewolf senses," Stiles threw his hands into the air, "I'm fine, Everything is fine, I don't know why you sensed that but there is nothing wrong, I am not worrying about anything nor do I feel despair," Stiles denied as he continued to walk without looking at Derek for a single moment,

"Why won't you trust me?" Derek asked which through Stiles for a loop, "I know we haven't been that close and we have had our disagreements but you are pack, I care about you, You can trust me with whatever it is that happened," Derek explained and Stiles could hear the worry and sincerity in his voice,

"I appreciate your concern but everything is fine," Stiles turned to him and was met with such a concerned expression that caused Stiles to sigh, "It was just a disagreement with Scott, nothing to worry about, We will work it out next week," Stiles lightly explained,

"What was it about?" Derek asked, Stiles looked away as he thought of what to say next, Derek kept up with him which Stiles was not surprised about,

Stiles continued to walk silently, he didn't know what to do, he wanted to confide in Derek, he really did, but he never confided in anyone, it wasn't like him and he didn't want to look weak in front of Derek, he didn't want anything to change between them, he loved the bickering they did, he didn't want Derek to feel sorry for him or what if Derek took Scott's side? Could he live with potentially ruining another friendship?

"Stiles," Derek said after a while, "If you are worried about me thinking different of you then you have nothing to worry about, I think I know you well enough to know what's true," Derek told him, Stiles looked at him,

"I killed someone," Stiles finally said and Derek now had a whole other expression on his face that Stiles couldn't explain, "It was an accident, He was chasing me, I climbed something and undid something which caused a pole to pierce through him, Theo found out and told Scott I did it in cold blood and Scott believes him," Stiles breathed, "I explained it poorly and Scott doesn't believe me, Donovan was gonna kill my dad, I didn't know what to do and now Scott hates me," Stiles looked away as tears threatened to escape, 

Before Stiles knew what was happening, Derek brought him into a hug which caused Stiles to freeze for a moment before hugging him back, He felt secure in Derek's arms, Stiles placed his head right on Derek's shoulder as tears lightly streamed down, he was scared for a moment Derek was going to kill him for crying on his shirt but as of the moment, Stiles could only enjoy the warmth,

"It's okay," Derek whispered, "Don't worry, Scott will come around, You guys have been friends forever, soon he will realize his mistake and you will get your chance to explain everything," Derek comforted, and it baffled Stiles that anything more then threats could come out of Derek's mouth,

"Thank you," Stiles whispered as he pulled away from the hug looking up to Derek for a moment before wiping his eyes and stepping away, 

"You know you don't have to hide your feelings," Derek told him, "You are always there for everyone, let me be here for you, You can talk to me about anything," Derek told him as Stiles smiled,

"That means a lot," Stiles smiled, they said nothing more as they walked down the path further. Stiles was relieved how the night turned out, he never knew Derek would be so open to being there for him and it was honestly so heartwarming to him.

A/N: I know this isn't them getting together but I just wanted to write Derek being there for Stiles. Hope you enjoyed it! I don't know if Derek was around as of that time but just pretend he was, it has honestly been so long since I watched Teen Wolf.
