Living In A Play

Remember when we said that we were going to be friends forever

Tied an orange string around our finger hoping that it'll last

But it took that one laugh that took me off into another world

And in that world you would flash me around and call me your girl

And now I remember that you kissed me in the rain by the lamp light

When you gave me an iced Starbucks vanilla latte hoping it would make my day

But you didn't know that you were the main hero in my brand new play

So I decided to tell you only because I had so much on that very day

You called my name and I walked up to the counter

Our hands touched and we just shrugged it off

But we knew that was our first encounter as one and last encounter as friends

I yelled you're the knight saving the princess who's locked in a tower

You laughed and turned red before my very eyes just because of what I said

It was the day that I knew that everything has changed and it was all before the end of the day

And it was all at the end of the day that I realized I wasn't living in a play

I saw that you were happy

And I thought it was because of me

But it's because of the things I was doing

You were always smiling a bright smile

Every time I was on time

You fit my poems like a perfect rhyme

I was so happy to finally call you mine

I saw myself through your eyes

As I was smiling through for the prize

And I know now that I'm not living in a play

Because now I'm with you at the end of the day

I saw that you were happy

And now I know that it's because of me

And it was because of who I truly am

You are always smiling a bright smile

Because now you're mine today

As we're not living in a play
