Aurora was in the infirmary when she first properly noticed the boy. Of course she had seen him around before, it was hard to not miss the four Gryffindors who already lost multiple points for their house one month into their first year. But this was when she actually looked at him.
He seemed to be sleeping, which she found odd as it was early afternoon. And so, as she sat in the infirmary, bored with nothing to do, she pulled out a sketchbook from her bag and tried drawing the scene in front of her.
The first was terrible, and so was the second, but she was determined to make a decent one--she wasn't put into Slytherin for nothing. By the time Madame Pomfrey had returned to her, she was already on her sixteenth try and it was starting to look good.
"Kids these days need to be more careful," Madame Pomfrey huffed as she double checked the back of Aurora's head. She had been in Defence Against the Dark Arts, learning the knockback jinx, and a classmate had hit her with it instead of the box that had been placed in front of them.
Aurora just shrugged and hopped off the bed when Pomfrey said she could go. She looked once more at the sleeping boy and then left to join her last lesson. Sadly, her last lesson was flying, and despite being hit with a jinx, she couldn't get out of it. Apparently the Pepper Up potion fixes everything.
The only thing that made the lesson worth going to was that the Slytherins were paired with Hufflepuffs, meaning she could spend time with Lois and Benjy.
The issue with noticing somebody, was that they then popped up everywhere you went. It turned out that this boy, Remus, was in her Charms class, Herbology class and History of Magic. He was everywhere.
Aurora didn't really mind though.
There were times when she was looking at him and he would look right back at her, and then always be the first one to break as he would turn to his friends. That was the most interaction they had for two years.
The first time Remus had seen her was when she sat on the stool in front of everyone in the Great Hall, and the sorting hat was placed on her head. Her eyes were looking over at a girl sat at the Hufflepuff table. Remus thought that she was the prettiest girl he had seen.
The hat then made its choice, 'Slytherin' echoing throughout the room along with the cheers from the Slytherin table.
Remus thought he had been good at keeping secrets. None of his friends knew what he was after months of living with them. But apparently he was awful at keeping normal secrets. Peter had figured it out first, bluntly asking him if he had a crush on 'that Slytherin girl you're always looking at'. When he tried to lie and deny it, he found out he was awful at that too.
