Throughout the rest of the night, all Aurora could hear were the words echoing in her mind.

"Still hate her?"

"Of course,"

She hadn't meant to overhear their conversation, but she did. And she regretted it so much. Aurora had thought that they were making some sort of progress, at least she was. Their last encounter didn't make her want to rip her eyes out, and it had also made her realise that maybe, she had just built up what was dislike, into hatred.

But now, she remembered why it was hatred.

The four boys that went around calling themselves 'The Marauders' didn't care about anyone else's feelings. Unless you were a Gryffindor of course. Aurora remembered sitting in the Great Hall and watch them humiliate students for 'fun'. She remembered having to comfort first year Slytherins that were not only being bullied by their own house, but by all of the others as well. And those four boys only encouraged it.

Everyone had thought Remus wasn't as bad as the other three. But Aurora knew better than that. He was a prefect. And he let it all happen. It was sickening.

She remembered being in her fifth year, also a new prefect, and slightly having a crush on one Remus Lupin. One night they had patrol together, and they found his friends out after curfew setting up what was meant to be a prank for Slytherins.

Aurora watched as Remus only laughed at them, and told them to go back to their dorm. She watched as he didn't take any points, or give detentions. And that was when she saw the real Remus Lupin.

When his friends had left, she was pulled out of the trance she had been in, of realising her crush wasn't as perfect as she had thought, and practically blew up on him. She remembered lots of yelling, and eventually, crying (starting when he was no longer around obviously).

"ты в порядке, милая? [are you alright, honey?]" Her father came up beside her, and his words brought her out of her head.

"да просто голоден [yes, just hungry]" She lied. Her father had moved to England when he was 18, wanting something more than what Russia could offer him. And that was where he met her mother. Elizabeth Selwyn. When Elizabeth had fallen in love with Alexei, she was disowned from her family, but she didn't care any less. She had her husband, and eventually, her three daughters.

Elizabeth had wanted her children to be able to speak Russian, so their father wouldn't feel so isolated, and started learning it herself with her daughters.

"все, что готовит рыжая, приятно пахнет [whatever the redhead is cooking smells lovely]" Alexei said and sent his daughter a smile.

"Come on Dad, let's find out if it tastes lovely too," Aurora returned a smile and the pair walked back to where the others were all standing.

----

"Thank you for the meal, it was delicious," Aurora heard her mother say to Lily as they all prepared to leave.

"Yes, it was very nice," Alexei supported. "We'd better get going and tuck this one into bed," He gestured to Rosie who was nearly asleep on her feet. "No rush to come back Rory,"

The three members of her family left through the fireplace quietly, her father sending Aurora a distrusting look at the fire, before he followed his wife and daughter.

"I had no idea that you were Russian!" James said to her, excited.

"Only half," Aurora felt her lips tightened into a small smile.

"Mm, still cool though," He picked up some of the leftovers and shoved them into his mouth. "I mean, you can speak another language,"

She grimaced at the sight of seeing the food inside his mouth. It was definitely something she could have gone without seeing. "Yes, quite 'cool',"

Thankfully, Lily came over and scolded her husband for his manners, but couldn't stay mad for too long. "We should head upstairs, James?"

"Yeah, great to see you Aurora. See you soon," He waved and followed Lily up the stairs to their bedroom. Leaving Aurora and Remus alone. This was starting to become a habit of theirs.

"I should probably get going too," She said to Remus, but avoiding his gaze. "If you don't mind,"

Remus scratched the back of his head, confused. "Yeah, sure, go ahead,"

"Great," Aurora lifted her head and locked eyes with him. For a moment neither said anything, just trying to figure the other out. "I guess I'll see you in a few days?"

"Uh- yes...yes. See you then,"

Remus watched Aurora walk to the fireplace and floo home. He found himself wondering what had gotten into her, as she was quieter for the later part of the evening. However, he didn't dwell on it for too long, as he had more important things to worry about. Such as the full moon coming in a week.
