Day 12 Lantern

Post Marriage with kids Kogane Family time-soooo this is kinda based on a true story, well two actually, lol. My son and husband thought they were going to treat us to seeing the lanterns and they literally caught on fire! The other part was me and my two kids making a bunch of snowballs and hid to ambush him...but he decided to come in the front bypassing us. Sooooo, I called him and said something was stuck and come to help...and we hit him with a barrage of snowballs. ;) hope you enjoy!

Drew was soooo excited. He had seen the lighted lanterns in cartoons and on tv. He's always wanted to do one and now his dad and him made one! Abbey and Finn were fighting about who was going to light it. But he did his best to ignore him. He wanted to have one for each person but they kinda messed up the first few so now...they had one. They even made it like a ghost because it was October.

Drew looked up at his dad, "Is mom on her way home? Is she?"

His dad grinned, "Almost, let's pull up her location."

Drew laughed and ran to get his dad's phone. He unlocked it and pulled up the location set to hers. He looked at it frowning, "Dad, um, where is this?"

His dad looked down, "Well, look at the street names, do you recognize any of them?"

Drew frowned, "Ummm, yeah, I get it. Oh man! Mom is almost here, it's like a um, two miles away and that means it's less than two minutes, mom drives fast!"

Drew quickly runs and grabs his brother and sister. "Shhhh, it's a surprise!"

They all hide and Drew holds onto Abbey. "Shhhh, we yell boo when mom comes back here."

They all are waiting when suddenly, they see a light go on inside. Drew wants to cry!  He looks so his dad who shakes his head, waves his hand and then abruptly stands.

His dad yells out, "Katie!!! I need your help! C'mere!"

Drew looks to his dad, he can hear his mom swearing, uh oh. Keith grins and stands tall. As his mom comes out of the back door they all jump out and yell "BOO!" Well him and Finn do...Abbey yells "Mama!"

His mom pauses and starts laughing. "What are you dorks doing?"

Dad replies, "Drew, Finn, take it away."

Drew proudly brings out the 'ghost' lantern and he let's Finn take the lighter while he holds it. Finn flicks on the lighter only for his mom to sternly say, "Nope, you guys are too young for fire...honestly babe."

His dad reaches out, "Okay buds, I guess I'll do the honors."

His dad lights it and...it slowly catches on fire!!!

"FIRE!!!!"

After his dad stomps the fire, he looks to his mom, "I'm sorry mom. We just wanted to surprise you for your favorite holiday." He was trying to not cry but he was so disappointed. But he wasn't a baby. He, he...suddenly his mom was hugging him tight.

"Sweetie, this was a great surprise! Just next time, when you want to make something...just ask Uncle Matt or Uncle Hunk!"

"HEYYYYY" his dad started but then just laughed. Suddenly the were all hugging and laughing despite the smoke. He loved his family.
