Chapter 6, Part II

Start from the beginning

Kaiji: Naoya has issues. Concluded.

Memoir of Naoya's Father has been added to the Truth Needles.

Kaori: And there's a newspaper article in there as well. About a murder.

Souta: Of whom? Is it something to do with the Kuchisake-onna?

Kaori: No.

Kaiji: ...Who?

Kaori: As the memoir implied, that of Arisu Edogawa. It happened a very long time ago, but she was just 16. Found dead in an abandoned warehouse. Officials suspected foul play from a crime syndicate she was in the midst of investigating.

Kaiji: ...

Souta: Anything troubling you?

Kaiji: (sniff) I'm fine. Don't ask me any more questions.

Newspaper Article has been added to the Truth Needles.

Souta: Okay, anything else?

Kaori: Yes.

Souta: My, my, why would Naoya be so careless as to leave highly personal and incriminating evidence in here?

Kaiji: Whoever was stupid enough to do that should be dragged out into the street and shot.

Kaori: This looks like a manifesto, by the way.

Souta: Ah, I see.

Kaori: (Reading through it, I saw that only a madman could have written it. It was incoherent, swearing vengeance against "the world full of worthless humans who ripped my sister away from me".)

Naoya's Manifesto has been added to the Truth Needles.

Kaori: Now that's out of the way...

I then noticed a small trashcan underneath the desk. It was thankfully empty, aside from a few crumpled balls of paper. I fished them out and unfurled them to reveal... what appeared to be diary entries. From the exact same diary Monokuma gave us as the first motive, to be exact. This was what they said:

----

Day 2: ...Goddamnit. We're only two days in and already we've got the memo. Apparently, the first dose of the serum all those years ago was imperfect - not only will it melt the subject's brain, but it'll do so over 4 years. And of course, that bastard took the perfected strain, the one that works exactly as intended, all for himself. Naoya won't be happy, but... I feel like we have no choice but to continue.

Day 4: Something's bugging me. Naoya knew from the very beginning that all this "LARP" talk was for if the Otonashi Foundation was secretly recording us, and now he's writing and playing dumb? First he blew up my house just for a trial run, then he's almost certainly going to make me take the entire blame for this? What does he even expect to gain?!

Day 6: I've been thinking to myself, should we even be doing this? Maybe we should just let Ryoko go and let her live out what remains of her life in peace. Junko's orders don't mean anything when not only she's dead, but the end of the Tragedy is in sight. Naoya... he won't budge though. He told us that we've invested so much into this - and we have to go ahead no matter what.

Day 8: Well, it's a funny batch we've gathered up like lambs to the slaughter. We only have the one unit - Junko was predictably a cheapskate - so we have to make it count. This will most likely end with either one or both of us dying; but if we stop right now, what's preventing her more die-hard followers from tracking down and killing us? I have resigned myself to the fact that we have caught the tiger by the tail and we can no longer let go.
