Chapter 30

Malakai's POV
I woke up to my arm being hugged.

This poor kid.

"How is she?"

"I guess she feels better since she's sleeping."

"How many years has it been?"

"I don't even know. I don't get what happened."

"Are you sure he's dead?"

"Yes. I'm pretty sure. I saw him lying there when I went to put her on my back."

I heard Elizabeth start to cry. I started shaking her.

"Hey wake up! You're having a nightmare!"

When she finally woke up she sat up.

"Why is this happening?!"

"Do you really think you saw him?"

"I'm pretty sure."

"Shit. Rose go call Hannah."

"I can't go home!"

"Uh Mal? She's outside again. Holy shit Liz was right!"

"Huh?"

I looked out the window and saw him.

"Stay here. Don't go by any windows."

I went to walk outside but I was too late. I heard a gun go off.

"HANNAH!"

I ran to her.

"No! No! No!"

I looked up at Alec and saw a panicked look on his face.

"MOM!"

Elizabeth came running outside.

"Get inside!"

I put my hands where my sister got shot. She looked at Liz.

"You're gonna live with your uncle now."

"HANNAH DO NOT DIE ON ME!"

She looked at me.

"I really am sorry I listened to him. I should've known better. I hope you don't hate me."

"I'm not mad! It's okay! I don't hate you!"

"The house is yours now."

"Wha-what?! Hannah stop talking like this!"

"I love you guys."

"I love you too!"

"Don't do this!"

"Tell mom and dad that I love them. Tell Chris too. Oh and Rose."

"Hannah Marie don't do this!"

"Please mom!"

"Take care of her."

That's it. That's the moment I lost my sister. The ambulance was too late. Elizabeth and I both started crying. Rose walked outside and saw what had happened.

"Oh my god!"

We all had to make statements. Alec stood there the entire time with the same expression on his face. Elizabeth looked up at him.

"I FUCKING HATE YOU!"

She realized what she said and looked terrified.

"It's okay. That's the only time you're allowed to say that until you're older."
