Rosemary's POV
Malakai put me on his lap and held me. I covered my face with my hands.
"I'm right here. Mally's right here."
"I can't go home. What if they're there?"
"Don't worry. You don't have to go back until you're ready. Whatever happened to you there won't happen here. Not while I'm around."
I started looking at my wrist.
"No. Don't do that. Try to ignore it."
"But it's right in front of me."
"Try to pretend it's not there. Did you think this was coming?"
"I had a feeling. I just..I just couldn't say it at the time.Mal? Do you think it'd be okay if I moved in?"
"Should be fine."
I curled up into a ball.
"If this changes anything you can go."
"Huh? Wait-are you? No! I'm not doing that! I'm never leaving you!"
"But I'll be a burden."
"No you won't be! You're not a burden! Something like this won't chase me away!"
"It won't?"
"No!"
"Oh no I made you mad!"
"No no no! You didn't make me mad at all!"
I got up and put my hands on my ears.
"Stop yelling! Please! I won't do it again! I swear!"
I don't see Malakai anymore. The only people I see are THEM.I'm back in that room. I hear everything they're saying. I feel everything all over again. My chest is getting tight. I felt my back hit a wall and I slid down it. I closed my eyes.
