Chapter 15

Rosemary's POV
Malakai walked outside. Christian came running downstairs.

"Wanna hear what they're saying? We can watch the security camera."

"I think I'll leave that to you."

He shrugged then put his earbuds in. He sat down on the couch.

"You're gonna wanna hear this!"

"I don't have to know what they talk about."

"But they're talking about you!"

"I don't mind. He's probably just checking on me."

"Then why isn't he asking you?"

"He probably knows I'd lie to him."

"You'd lie to your dad?"

"I know I shouldn't. I just..don't want to make anyone else worry."

"Mally's been worried about you for years. He's been writing letters but he never sends them."

"I'm guessing he didn't want me to know that."

"Nope!"

"Why are you ratting out your brother?"

He shrugged.

"I dunno. He's coming in! Act like you didn't hear anything!"

"You do know that only applies to you right? You're the one who was eavesdropping. You really shouldn't do that."

"So? It doesn't hurt me."

"For now it doesn't."

"What doesn't hurt yet?"

"Your brother eavesdropped."

"Crap. Can I talk to you Christian?"

They walked away so I couldn't hear them. I watched them talking.

"YOU DID WHAT?!"

Mal pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Everything okay?"

"I-I have no clue. Did you really tell her that?!"

"What did he tell me about?"

"The damn letters!"

"Oh yeah! I did tell her about those!"

"I don't have to read them."

"She should."

"I don't have to."

"She really should."

"Uhhhh..I really don't want her to."

"Then I don't have to."

"I'll go get one!"

He took off running.

"CHRISTIAN GET BACK HERE! DO NOT TOUCH THEM!"

I guess I'll go sit down.

I sat down on the couch and turned the tv on.

"GIVE IT TO ME!"

"SHE SHOULD READ AT LEAST ONE!"

"NO SHE DOESN'T!"

"Boys calm down! If he doesn't want me to read it then I won't read it."

"Give it back Christian!"

Chris managed to give me a letter.

"I'm not reading it."

"Then I'll read it to you!"

"No! No you won't!"
