I dragged my suspicious, but amused, mate behind me as we walked to the door, fingers interlaced. As I reached for the handle, I prepared myself internally for the sensory overload I knew was about to happen. And I, probably, should have warned my crystal-eyed mate, but a mischievous part of me wanted to see his reaction. I pulled the door open and immediately electronic music hit us. Cy stepped towards me, his eyes widening briefly before he was back to his usual expressionless mask. But not before slapping my arm,

"You could’ve warned me."

"I could have."

He clicked his tongue and rolled his eyes before walking in. I couldn't help the smirk on my lips as I followed behind. As we stopped at the counter, I wrapped my arms around his waist and kissed his cheek. He purred softly before examining our surroundings. The large open space was filled with a black light and neon-colored glow. The theme of the place seemed to be inspired by Alice in Wonderland on acid. Walls depicted various black and neon images of kids jumping down holes while impossibly large rabbits hopped over and around them. Cardboard cutouts of the same rabbit made it seem as if it were coming to life from the images. And this was just the entryway.

"How can I help you?"

I turned my attention from the decorations and towards a wavy-haired strawberry blonde. She smiled kindly, waiting for a response. I smiled back, my fingers absentmindedly rubbing my baby's hips,

"Yeah. We'd like to do some mini-golf."

She smiled at us and went to the rack on the wall behind her, which was filled with putters and golf balls. She grabbed two adult putters and two golf balls. One was neon red while the other was a pale green, both of which glowed in the blacklight. She walked back and placed both on the long counter in front of us,

"For two adults, that'll be $25.95."

I notice Cy's head turn to the side slightly as I hand the girl the money. He's still uncomfortable with me paying for everything. I kiss his cheek and neck lightly, hoping to take his mind off of it. No matter how much I tell him that I don't mind, I mean my family's loaded, he still has trouble accepting it. He grabs the putters and golf balls, examining them as I led him to the first hole. Large cardboard cutouts of walking playing cards line the way to the first hole, which is nestled inside of the symbol for the card suit of hearts. I tell him to place the golf balls down and walk towards them, settling my pale green one at the starting spot,

"Okay baby, the point of the game is to get the ball to the hole in as few strokes as possible with this."

I hold the putter in the air as he glances at his, nodding before watching me. The first hole is pretty simple, with only one sharp curve. I make it in two shots, mainly because I miscalculated, but whatever. It was my baby's first time, so we weren't keeping score. As I picked my ball up from the hole, I saw Cy lining up his shot. After about three reassuring looks from me, he finally swung. And missed. I walked up to him with a smile,

"It's okay baby, just try again."

He hummed in response and went at it again. And missed. Again. Beating up lions? Oh, that was easy. Hitting a golf ball? Impossible. I couldn't help but snort at the situation. He looked at me and narrowed his crystal eyes, glaring at me slightly. He clicked his tongue and stared at the ball as if his frustration would make it move. I smiled and walked up behind him. Placing my hand over his, I started to guide his movements with mine, my chest pressed against his back,

"Line it up, but never take your eyes off the ball."

His hair brushed against my face as he nodded slowly. His sweet scent surrounded me and I wanted to spin him towards me and kiss him, but I focused on the task at hand as I guided his swing. The glowing red ball bounced off the wall, making the turn, and rolled into the hole. He stood still for a moment before turning to me with a wide smile as his soft lips pressed against mine. It wasn't heated. Just sweet. And a little too quick for my liking as he pulled back with his usual small smile and bright eyes,

"Thank you."

"You're welcome, beautiful. Now let's go to the next hole."

He got a bit better by the third hole, sadly, no longer needing my guiding touch. By the fifth, it was a full-on competition. Damn, he was a fast learner. He was calculating the trickier holes better than I was. Suddenly, I was relieved that we weren't keeping score. Even with the struggles at the beginning, he would have been very close to whooping my ass. With a smile, no less. At the last hole, I barely stopped my mouth from hitting the floor as he made it in one shot. He simply retrieved his ball with a smirk before walking towards me, spinning the putter like a baton in the hand furthest from me,

"Close your mouth, baby. You might catch flies."

He patted my chest before walking off towards the exit that led to the front counter. Cocky, aren't we? I didn't let him get far, not after that little display. He growled in surprise as I picked him up and threw him over my shoulder,

"I'd much rather catch you, gorgeous."

I heard the click of his tongue as he flicked the back of my head, though he made no attempt to get down. Rather, he made himself comfortable leaning his elbow against my back, most likely supporting his head. As I walked up to the counter, the girl smiled widely at us with an amused expression. As she took our supplies, the smile never left her face,

"You guys are a cute couple."

I smiled back,

"Thank you."

I nodded my head at her as I walked out, still carrying my mate. I could feel happiness slightly radiating off of him, though I doubt it showed on his face. That was the first compliment to our relationship that wasn't from friends or family. Not that either of us cared...but it felt nice. As I continued towards the car, I heard his cute raspy mumble from behind me,

"Sore loser."

I smacked his plump right butt cheek, causing him to give a quiet yelp,

"I don't know how you lose at a game with no score, love, but..."

I popped his left cheek firmly this time, coaxing a soft moan this time,

"In this position, I feel like a winner."

I feel him smack my back, grumbling incoherently. We reach the car and I place him in the passenger seat. Pecking his lips as I buckled his seat belt, I closed the door. Soon, I was behind the wheel and we were headed home. We listened to one of his playlists while he played with my fingers. I saw him glance at me from the corner of my eye before he blushed slightly. I smirked,

"What is it, Cy?"

"Nothing...I, um, I had a lot of fun tonight. Thank you."

His rosy lips pressed against my cheek softly, bringing a smile to my face as I kissed his hand,

"Anytime, love. Anytime."
