Lahat ng mga college students—almost 2,700, gaya ng sabi ng admin—fits together inside the Verena Gymnasium—the biggest gymnasium in Atendelle, with multiple huge ceiling fans, a big stage at the east wing and two wide entrances at the north and south wings. The wide center fits a basketball court, for which I presume is the setting of the said sport for tomorrow until the fifth day.

The students are stratified according to their programs and the programs inside the same College sits next to each other at the stands.

Also, each program is assigned a color for the team shirts to represent them.

Kitty asks. The three of us—Kitty, Yvan and me—are sitting next to each other. Kurt’s not here. He’s at the back side of the gymnasium, waiting for the athlete’s oath.

Honestly, I feel like Kurt’s been spacing himself away from us these past few days. We’re still seatmates but we’ve been talking less. We did ask him if he’s alright, and he always shows a bright smile and answers positively.

Unlike Gelo, I already see Kuya just directly opposite from our stands—near the stage. They wear black shirts and Kuya’s complexion seems to glow because of the color. He’s smiling at me and I smile back.

Maya-maya pa'y nagsisimula na ang programme. We have already prayed for the doxology, and finished the national anthem but still there is no sign of Gelo. I take a deep breath and pray that he’s fine. That he’s not in trouble. That he’s safe.
